Default Any lightweight 4 drs for a swap?

I'm really into the whole lsx/t56 swap and have a bud a worth with a swapped rx7. I love it. But I want something with a true back seat, but it can't be a land yatch.

I'd love to have above 25mpg on the highway. My friends gets 30 with his rx7. I like the 79 malibu body style as well as every year caprice, but I'm sure they weigh to much. thanks

Go for an old Impala 58-69. Few people rescue the four doors, they usually become donors. I may be a bit partial to them, but they still are the number one selling nameplate ever built. I would love to see a 65 four door with an LS1/Auto, bench seat on the road! That would be a great project, has tons of room, isn't all that big (remember that is all relative), and looks sharp to boot! Not sure why you are worried about weight, throw four or five people into a car, and performance isn't an issue anymore. Even in stock trim, an LS1 would move an Impala (or Belair or Biscayne!) around pretty nicely. Parts are starting to become pretty available, and they drive like a dream! I would seriously consider power steering, power brakes, and small block springs in the front end! Depending on the rear end ration, you should be able to hit 23-26 mpg. Would be an awesome cruiser, and you could live in the trunk if you needed to!

Eighties style G body regal, cutlass, gran prix or malibu. GM built different variations from 78-84 or 85. You could get a wagon in that style as well. I know a guy that has a Malibu wagon that weighs a little under 3,000lbs.

the 1990-1992s aren't too bad, and they can look sweet too (depending on your definition of sweet)

They already have great brakes and handling and there is one kit out there plus one on the way. Lightweight, good looks, and the 4 dr cars are less expensive to buy than the two doors. Also, if you don't mind swapping pedals (which you shouldn't if you are doing an engine conversion) autos seem to bring less cash than 5 speeds.

Just beef up the rear diff mount.

There is a guy over on the rich side of town who has a Volvo wagon with an LS1 in it and it looks like it was born there. Personally, I am a full frame guy, so I have to say use the 78 and up A/G body cars. The only thing with my 78 is no room for big tires and I do not want to cut out the wheelwells or tub it. I love sleepers. JB

Here is some inspiration for your Fairmont Project, though neither are 4 doors.

I don't have a thing for Fairmonts, honest! I just love a good sleeper. The dents in the quarter panel add a perfect touch
