pulling the part numbers from the 67-69 camaro sticky i have a concern that a number for the fuel system is wrong
"You will need (2) 3/8" fittings, part number RUS-639210 or RUS-640850. They're for from the tank to regulator, and the line out to the rails.
You will need (1) 5/8" fitting (part number 640860) for the return to the fuel tank from the regulator. Those fittings have -6AN ends,"
is the second number correct? it shows a 5/16th fitting every where i look.

Ok I'm buying the fuel system this week end, and I sent the harness off today. So theres no turning back now. So far Im in the pit about $5200. but then a few hundred more, so I'll probably have about 5800 or 5900 in the whole swap, which is within what I predicted (Predicted 6000)
Havent started wrenching yet but in about two weeks the old motor should be out. By then I will know if I've tried something stupid. lol

I'm sure I sound like a broken record, I'm trying to find my fuel parts but cant wrap my head around what all i need. aside from lines and hoses I need:
Fuel pump (walbro 255)
Corvette Filter (1999)
Fuel rail connection (Rus-640850)
Compression fittings for the filter (P/N anyone?)
My head hurts just trying to think of what i need. I dont know squat about fittings Is there a kit?

Just got back from advance auto parts. I was told they don't sell russlle's fittings, ok. And that they couldent even order a fuel filter for a 99 vette. WTF. This fuel system is pissing me off already and I don't even have the parts.
Auto zone said its a dealership item only. So I guess I need to find an online vendor.
In order this is what i need
fittings at tank
flexible line
fitting from flex line to pump
pump
fitting from pump to flex line
flex line
fitting to regulator from flex line
flex line
fitting from flex line to hard line
hardline
fitting from flex line to flex line
flex line
fitting from flex line to fuel rail
fitting at fuel rail
fitting on return side to flex line
flex line
fitting from flex line to tank
I think thats it so thats 9 fittings
5 pieces of flex line
a pump, a regulator
confusing as all hell if you ask me

Shoot me a PM. I beleive I've got left over fittings that will fit the stock fuel rail from the LT1 stuff I pulled from my 94 Z28 when I started my LS1 swap. If I still have them, I'll send them to ya for basically shipping.

Ok project is moving along, got the fuel pump and the regulator, just need the proper fittings and plumbing. The harness work is on the way as is the mounts and pan. I hope to have it on the road by the end of august. A realistic goal i feel. I work 6 days a week so matching schedual's up with my uncle can be difficult but we should meet the deadline ok.
Thanks for all the help and support so far!

Anyone know what size and thread the extra port on the fuel rail is? I assumed this was for a fuel pressure application, so i orderd a fuel pressure gauge. The gauge's sender is 1/8th -27NPT. I hope thats the right size. I can't get to my engine right now or I would just try to screw it on. Thanks

Should I start a new thread now that we really started? anyway here are todays progress pics, not much to look at but shows that I'm for real. lol
We got everything dissconnected, pulled most of the front stuff off. Hood is off. One bolt holding the engine and trans in, Its all coming out tomarrow and we are cleaning and painting the bay tomarrow.
On the bad side we already discoverd that besides all the F'ing rust eatting away at it the rearend is nearly broke. The pinion bearings are shot, who knows what else is damaged in there. Have to decided wether to fix it or upgrade I guess. What do you guys think? Fix the 10 bolt or find the funds to put something stronger in there?

Stronger is better, but go with what you can afford. You can always baby the car for a little while after you get it running, and then change the rear when you can afford it again!

Left the camera at the shop yesterday So here is todays and yesterdays progress pics.
The old engine practically jumped out. lol It came out quick and smooth. We should be able to put the ls1 in with the tranny attached.
The engine bay is painted now, might put on a second coat. We got John's motor mounts and pan. The mounts we'rnt marked like he said be they only go on one way so we figured it out. The pan looks good. Something is holding the harness up. Communication seem's patchy and It's running late for us.
We should put the harness on the engine before we put it in right? At least the transmission stuff? Anyway taking a few days off put its going smooth so far. We are dropping the tank on monday and sorting out the fuel stuff for the final time. We are also gonna work out how to lift the ls1 and put the pan back on and then a few days later drop it in the car. We are also going to fab up some block off plates and exhaust flanges through out the week.
Speaking of exhaust, my car was loud before, how will it sound now?
Old setup : 305, true duals, no cats, big carb, stock exhaust manifolds. It was fairly loud.
The ls1 will be the same except that its an ls1. Are they louder than SBC?

We are going to piece together two fuel setups. One using the walbro, corvette regulator, another using the stock F body fuel pump.
Anyone know anything about the fuel tanks? A GM tech told me that using an EFI el camino gas tank would enable us to use the F body pump as far as the lock ring goes, we just have to modify it for the heighth. Can anyone confirm this?

The f-body fuel sending unit will not be a drop in in the el camino efi tank. The sending unit hole in the EC tank is on a hump in the middle and it is on probably a 30 degree angle from being level. The EC sending unit has a bend in the tubes so that they go into the tank vertical even though the sender mounts at an angle. The F-Body sending unit mounts flat, so if you use it the tubes and fuel pump will angle toward the back of the car.

We fabbed up a rig to help lift the engine yesterday. Just hope we can get it off once its in the car. I learned I cant weld. Today we will put the pan on and maybe try to put the engine in the car. John B, with the current design of the mounts does the coil pack for number 8 clear the heater box or do we need to modify the pack?

The engine is in, motor mounts arn't tho....its sitting on wood for now. Tommarow we will get the mounts on and bolted down. Damaged the heater box like everyone else. It looks good in there tho, took about 3 hours to wiggle it in. I have pics but can't put them up tonight. I figure its 2 weeks from running and three weeks from driving on account of the rear end being screwed. can't wait to turn it over for the first time.
