Default it this a good deal for a 98 vette ls1?

i found a guy selling a complete 98 vette ls1 with 50,xxx miles on it. he is local and pick up or delivery will be a snap.

this is the description he e mailed me.

The motor is complete from oilpan to intake, complete heads, valve covers, rockers, and pushrods are included. The motor will have the water pump, timing chain and cover, etc. I am reusing the a/c, alt, starter so those and the brackets are not included. I can include the harmonic balancer, and tensioners, as I have new ones for my new motor. So basically, all you would need would be the alternator and bracket, the ac and bracket, and the starter. Let me know if you are interested, I can deliver it if you like.

he was originally asking $2000. im going to see if he will lower it a bit since his posting was kinda old and the motor is still for sale.

$1600 too cheap or harsh? i want to go with a carb so im looking at the odds and ends that will make me a few dollars.

Considering you most likely were going to have to relocate the acc. anyway, that doesn't sound bad at all. You are getting all the sensors, harness, coils and everything?

The accessories for these engines are not cheap, nor are the brackets. Assuming you can use OEM stuff, I would price that out first and figure that into your offer...

If you were actually going to use the engine be careful about the missing pieces. They are really expensive. A starter can be over $200.

Without the sensors and coils, I would have to pass on that price. I do not know if the corvette routing will fit the 69. I know the F-body (except A/C) will fit. Wire harness and sensors are a lot of cash.

i just emailed him. hes got a black berry so he responds as quick as a text message... love it.

anyway, he said he can include the ignition coils, injectors, and fuel rails. so all in all i can re-sell all the fuel injection stuff for a small amount of money.

hes asking $1850 for everything that he has. free delivery too!

coil packs, valve covers, valve train, complete short block, vette main accessory bracket and tensioner, water pump, oil pan, fuel rails, FI intake.

i would pretty much only buy it if i could get like $500 or more for the top end parts, as i want a carb intake and ported heads.

think these parts would be worth anything to someone with an iron truck motor looking for some aluminum heads and car intake?

The intake would be a LS1 piece so it basically worthless. The 98 return style fuel rail would be easy to get rid of to someone doing a swap that didn't want to mess with the 99+ rail with no return. LS1 heads are cheap. Might get $125 or so if your lucky.

I doubt you'd be able to get $500 for the parts you don't need, but you never know.

The intake is a non-EGR Corvette LS1 intake, they're worth a little more. I've gotten $100 for them before.
