That can be an absolute bear to track down. Does he at least know where it could potentially be?
I believe I have a full diagram of the harness if he needs it.

Would Ohming out the harness and doing Voltage-drop tests help find the problem more effectively than a test light ( continuity test ) ?

It's still a very LONG process to check everything.

I have personally not done it but from some of the LS1 swap people I have talked to it should take the better part of a day to Ohm out and Voltage-drop test the Harness.

I have personally never done it to a LS1 harness, and am only going by what other LS1 swap owners have told me.

There is a guy by the name of Eric that has a LS1 Nova and a LS1 Ratrod and has done many other LS1 swaps that goes to the Belton, MO. Cruise often, Tommygun and I ran into him and he gave me his number and said when he gets back in town ( 2 weeks ) that he would really like to take a look at the car, he said it sounded interesting.

Have you check your harness->pcm connection? Are the two bolts tightened down?

Something simple, probably not the answer though...

Where are you getting the PCM power from? Is it from a dedicated circuit off the battery?

i found my problem the other day . you need to check that the injector fuse has power i made my own harness from the doner camero. it had 2 control boxs and i only needed the box with the inj and start circuits in it. the boxes come apart so i transferd bat pwr 2 the second box but i for got to add inj power to those mini fuses. hooked inj pwr to those fuses and bam it started right up and runs like a raped ape.the only other issue i had was the cam sensor wire i put inthe wrong slot.all is fixed and is quite a ride withe 46" baja claws and a raptor 700 r4.

From what I understand is that he has a dedicated Fuse Box just for the PCM and such. I will have to double check.

My friend Chad from KCSR ( has a twin turbo Lincoln Mark ) went over to look at my car with Mark today and they got it fired up today !!!

Chad called me and said listen to this... and started up the car... I nearly fainted , I couldn't believe they got it started. Now it just wont stay running so there is more bugs to work out, but at least it sounded healthy when they started it !

Probably just a vacuum leak or un-metered air or something. It really wasn't too bad. Just needed a fresh perspective in looking at it. I'll be the first to admit that I have had the same thing happen to me. It's just one of those things that happens to the best of us. The work on the car looks really good and is top notch. Just one of those "DOH" little mistakes that can get the best of us.

I'm having the same problem: starts and idles with a big backfire, then just dies after 5-10 min.

What did you find was the problem?

It was a mixture of un-metered air and the fact that the Alt was not working.

Shes running good and I will be taking her out for her first " beat on " session this weekend !
