Default Check engine light grrrrr!!

i just installed a 4l60e behind my ls6. im getting a code p 0608. vehicle speed sensor output. ??? tranny seems to have to much line pressure even tho the settings show it shouldn't. any ideas would be great!! thanks

DTC P0608 Control Module VSS Output "A" Malfunction

Not sure about the answer.. but this guy seemed to have the same problem as you. Might try contacting him to see if he found a solution...

i havnt had any luck on the net for info on this prob. im assuming that you guys have installed the 4l60e with out a cruise control unit?? the only reason i ask is because the code om getting is for the vss output. which in the wiring diag says it goes to the cruise control, insturment cluster and radio. just trying to figure out if im missing a component or if something else is wrong!!!! please help!! i wanna drive my damn car haha

Just get in tuned out. I pulled a bunch of codes on mine and had to clear them three different times to get them all to go away. Three times because each time I cleared them ten minutes of driving later and new ones would pop up. ( rear O2's, fuel tank pressure etc etc. ) Similar to your issue in that none of the codes I was tripping affected anything I was using so I had my tuner delete them. Might want to post in the PCM tuning section if you haven't already.

I did not purchase tuning software and went for a pro tune instead and although i am happy with my tune I wish I had ponied up the dough and bought the software so I could tweak away. Seeing as you have two swaps I'd seriously look into it.

i actually work at a shop and my boss did tune the car/tranny. this code i think is actually causeing the trans to be at full line pressure at all times. so theres something goin on. just trying to figure out were to start looking to correct the problem

Only way to find that out for certain is to consult other tuners and see what this code effects and why?

I dont see any reason why VSS out cannot be tuned out as in deleted from your parameters so it becomes a dead circuit so to speak. Your not using it for anything right? So get rid of it problem solved.

Have you connected the speedo directly to the instrument without letting the PCM share the signal? If so it would explain your troubles. With automatics the PCM controls pretty much everything in the gearbox and do that from different sources of information, the VSS is one of those sources.

You could also chech in the transmission section on this forum.

I had troubles getting my autometer Speedo to work properly using the VSS out from my PCM. I had to wire it directly to the VSS out from the trans and figured there was no need for anything else so I left in unhooked to the PCM. I was curious if my assumptions were correct so I posted here ( see link ) but even on an M6 it does affect quite a few things. So I spliced the VSS in for the PCM back into the VSS feed from the trans. You definitely need to have that hooked up or it wont run for dog *****. Hope this is of some help

ya i have both the low/high vss goin into the pcm from the trans. im using the vss output from the pcm to my autometer and the guage works great. im starting to think its in the tunning somewhere. we used efi live.
