The engine swap is in and have driven hundereds of miles of flawless fun. What I need to do to finish the swap is wire the OBD2 pig tail to the LS1 PCM in place of the OE OBD1 connector, what I am aming to do is use the OEM light on the dash.So my mission is to find the OE wire that powers the check engine light.I am working on a 1992 K15

Sounds like you want to replace the ODBI connector with a ODBII connector and also have the Check Engine Light on the truck functioning via the new PCM.
I know the wiring for the ODBII connector can be found in the Sticky. You should be able to swap that in with out a problem...
Term #2 = Purple - Serial Data Line from the PCM
Term #4 = Black - Ground
Term #5 - Black / White - Ground
Term #16 - orange - +12volt Battery
Not sure how you want to connect your current CEL, But it would depend on what year PCM your using and how your current truck dash is setup to light up the CEL. Maybe someone at Speartech could help on intergrading the two system.

Gonzo,
I don't have access to a 92 manual. You will need to look at the schematic for the cluster to see what wire grounds the MIL. The PCM provides the ground. You could just get an LED from radio shack and put switched igntion voltage to one side and the brown/white CKT 419 wire from the PCM to the other and you would have a working MIL.
I was a GM tech for a long time, wrote service manuals/schematics, diagnostics, and the parts side as well.

Yep guys appreciate you understanding what I am trying to do.The PCM/grounds connection to the OBD2 pigtail I think are straight forward. Its about finding the ground for the OE.
Here is what i have from chiltons which like haynes is garbage compared to a GM manual which i wish i had. Anyways if you can take a look and the pics are ok maybe you will see what I am not seeing THANKS
Dont know if this will be to small.????

I can`t enlarge those pics enough to read them. If you have larger pics and they show the check engine light e-mail them to me and I should be able to tell you where to look.

MIL on the 1992 is a brown with a white stripe in the twelve way connector behind the glovebox where the factory pcm used to reside.. There will be a large 12 gauge single red wire close by this connector. Once the glovebox is out it is straight down and usually wrapped with a foam anti rattle tape.

Holy schniekys there are some smart folks here THANKS 01WS6.Went right to wires you described.Wired the OBD2.Cut the Brown/white striped, when
test grounded the light came on.I hooked the PCM lamp up to it,scanned it had no codes.MIL comes on with scanner plugged in.My question is I was figuring the Mil would come on at start up and go off. Anyone know if I did something wrong?
