Default LS1 Pullout Question

I just got an LS1 from an 01 Firebird with a 4L60E transmission deliverey last Saturday. I ordered it from a wrecking yard that does a lot of rebuild sales. Anyway when I got everything unwrapped I noticed the engine was from an 01 Firebird with a standard transmission and the 4L60E auto trans was from a 99 Camaro. Any problem with this as long as I replace the clutch assembly with a flexplate?

The other disturbing issue was that the harness from the transmission had been cut. The engine harness looks to be intact, except all the ends that go to the lights, fuse panel, dash, fuel tank, etc have been cut off. Is this the way others are being supplied if you get the original harness with the engine?
I assume the computer needs to talk to the transmission, right?

I don't think there is any problem with the shipper doing me right, I just want to be able to point out how other suppliers are doing it.

Thanks

In 4th gen F-bodies the manual trans has a harness for skip shift thats all, you should still have that in your engine harness, but your not using it. You now have an automatic and whats left of the harness on the transmission.

What you need to do is send your harness off to someone to have them remove the manual trans stuff, and splice in the auto stuff. Or you could take the time and do it yourself and save the cash. The computer will need to be reprogramed for sure too.

Wonder why they switched transmission's on ya. Must be short on supply for that combo.

I would not trust any seller that cuts the harness, It is going to cost you some extra money to repair the harness.. you may be better off trying to get some refund from the seller and buy a harness from Speartech or some other vendor.

Also what is in the harness for the Manually tranes are the VSS, Skip Shift and Reverse switch.

you would need at lease the VSS wiring.

People just need to buy from a good source. I have seen some people get hosed when they buy setups and then i have seen some people get awesome deals. kind of a luck of the draw deal if you ask me.

The Cut wire plugs were probably to connectors C220 and C230. Each has about 10 pins, not all used. In our swap, we're using about half of those pins. Take a look in the Fbody factory manual, there is a listing of the circuits going thru the above 2 connectors. We cut ours off anyway, as the Metripack back shells & pins are hard to get.

When I bought my drop out it came with no cut wires. Engine and trans came from the same car and they were pulled just as it was then shipped to me. It was also complete with pedals, trans crossmember, shifter, AFM, PCM. This is how the unit was advertized as well.

Only issue I had was they cut off one cat converter taking the o2 sensors with it. However they left the other cat on and both o2 sensors.
