The oil and coolant passages are actually quite simple. The hardest part would be the actual work of joining the two halves of the blocks/heads together. Gaskets can be custom cut (buy a company such as Cometic), and modifying the valve covers and oil pan would be easily doable for a competent welder/machinist.

Ford's GT90 engine of 10 or more years back used 2 Duratec aluminum blocks EB (Electron-Beam) welded together to make a V12, look for Ryan Falconer's gen2-based V12's (although he makes his own blocks/heads) etc. Lots of fun to be had if you got the skill & $$!! Take a look at youtube video of machining a V8 block complete ... just get a big chunk of aluminum, high-end CAD & CAM software ... go for it!

Yep, that motor took AT LEAST $50,000 more to build than mine ever will, gets worse mileage, makes less power, isn't as durable, and took more time to build than 10 of mine, but I'm jealous....
LOL..

If you don't like it say so and leave the thread. I think it is damn impressive. I was always a big fan of Ryan Falconer's V-12 Gen I engines before he started manufacturing his own block and heads.
Cost effective? No unless you are trying to bring in high profile customers who will pay big $$$$$ for a one of a kind engine.
Fuel efficient?? No, but Lamborghini's new V12 will get all of 9mpg in the city. I bet the LS12 gets better than that. A 500-600 hp motor will not get great gas milage regardless of engine configuration.

You guys sure have a way of comparing apples to oranges... LOL

BMW's M10. It's an M30 (I6) with 2 cylinders lopped off. One of the most reliable engines BMW has made and served as the basis for their 1000+hp F1 turbo 4 cylinder engines.
Jeep's 2.5L I4. It's a 4L I6 with 2 cylinders taken off. Dead reliable. 100k+ easily.

i dont really care if its cost effective or fuel efficient or if it lasts only a week. the guy did it, it works, how many people do you know that have done that? i sure dont know anyone. even with only a crappy cell phone pic, that is one of the coolest engines ive seen... ever! i only wish i could have been there to see it for real and ask a TON of questions.

Nice to see people doing different things

I agree with you guys who think that the V12 is cool .. what a task to undertake .. applause to the guy who did it!! The whiners in this thread who complain that its unreliable, etc are dopey. Hey, any swap or custom is going to be a car that you inspect carefully under the hood at EVERY gas fill-up.

I think it's pretty neat. Would love to see & hear it in person and learn how it was done. Sure, its probably completely impractical, expensive, etc. But it's also pretty darn neat. May not be right, may not be the best way to make 525hp (probably isn't), but its impressive from a fabrication standpoint. Doesn't look like the guy's looking to sell too many of them anyway.
QSPres.....I dunno what to say boss....You've posted in this thread 7 times, and we're only at post #36, and none of them have said anything particularly useful. Like this one:
It's not that we don't appreciate a counter-opinion. It's good to see both the pro's and con's of something, and I don't consider you or your opinion Dopey.
It's just you seem to be combative in just about every post I've seen you make.... Why? Is the weather up there in MA that crappy, or something else bugging you (in the extermination business or otherwise)? Most of us on here are looking to help somebody out, by providing information, resources, sound advice, etc, or are people looking for those same commodities for help in their swap.
Or maybe it's just time for another beer.

Someone mentioned the intake as being difficult. I think it would be the easiest part. Just bandsaw the 2 intakes and glue them together. I modified a nissan maxima Nylon intake to switch it from FWD to a RWD application and it turned out great. It's made 13,000 miles and 3 years including some time running in sub zero weather If it broke tomorrow (though very unlikely) I'd still say it was a success.

Sounds like GM's attitude in the late 70's and early to mid 80's....
You know, when they lost all their power in the market and still haven't recovered...
Anyone remember the Caddy 4.1L? The displacement on demand feature they used to have? LOL. I guess the engineers called them sucesses too...
So did the guy who designed the Edsel......
