So, uh, what about those engines with cylinders removed/added that can't survive? Or did you intentionally not bring that up again?

We need more pics of this beast.
I didn't see any glue on the intake, maybe this guy made a mold and cast one out on his hobby bench.
This guy deserves some credit for his work.

It wasn't the 4.1 it was the 6.0(362ci) 8-6-4
The 4.1 had enough problems. Along with the 4.5 and 4.9 later engines.
Pure junk

Nope, I was right. I haven't seen one example yet of any sucessful production engine that has been considered high quality yet...

Some one off stuff that never made it big was all I saw so far. Pretty pathetic if you ask me...

They tried it once years ago, before the 6L. I believe it was on the 4.1L or something even before that...

Pure junk was all that came out of GM from 77-87, with the GN being almost the only bright spot..

qspres, what do you consider a "high quality" motor? and what can you back up the GN statement with?

Clearly, the '84-'88 Fiero was junk, too, right? Rolling bonfire! That came outta GM too. And no, Lotus didn't design the suspension, that was speculation and rumor. The suspension was GM-designed too. Bump-steer was eliminated in '88, and the '89 prototype was gearing up to be one of GM's best accomplishments before it embarrassed the (then) prototype ZR-1 around the track with two less cylinders and about 50 less horsepower. Nevermind the fact that the chassis only weighed 600 pounds, yet was one of the stiffest of the mid-engine vehicles of that decade, besting even Ferrari's 308GTB and 328GTS.

But - that's neither here nor there. That is one seriously nice V12 LS1. I wouldn't mind hearing the exhaust note.

QS Pres. What makes you think you are fit to run your mouth like this? Unless you are an engineer, which I you are not...because coming from someone who is in the process of getting their degree to be an automotive engineer.....no engineer talks like that.

You seem to be spewing crap from everywhere. 1/4 of the 6 and 4 cylinder American designed motors are just v8's with cylinders hacked off.....I know this for a fact, my professor designed some of them =]

So....that's your cue to shut it.

LOL. Just use that on your resume and you're assured a job at GM or Ford.... Simply brilliant deductive powers! LOL

That is definatley en engineering marvel. I agree I wouldn't waste my time or money on it, but then again I don't have the know how to do it. Makes me wish I'd gone to SEMA. I just help turn some wrenches on a 620HP (flywheel), pump gas, turbo LS1 fiero, thing was awesome and has been surprisingly durable. I'll see if I can dig up the pics I have of it.

Also QS, get whatever crawled up your rear out. While I don't share your opinion I can appreciate it but enough with the juvenile, meaningless, negative comments. If you don't like late model GM stuff because it is all crap then go hang out on www.ihategmcarscausetheyareallcrap.com , not on a GM tech board.

Here's how the conversation went down when GM approached Lotus to design the Plastic Fantastic suspension for them.....

GM: Hey, we know you build $80,000 (at the time) supercars, but we want you to design a suspension for our $12,000 car.

Lotus: .....................

GM: Are you still there?

Lotus: Umm, yeah.... Hold on a moment and let us connect you to our intern department.

I guess GM guys shouldn't feel bad, I believe Subaru had Lotus attempt the same thing. It was **** too..........

The same brilliant minds that made the deal with Opal recrently where no matter how bad the company was doing, at any time the owners of Opal wanted, they could force GM to buy their company for a predetermined amount of money and GM would HAVE to buy it....

Enough said?
