Default truck to car intake

Trying to put a 6.0 into my 87 vette, so far I'm really thinking the truck intake is too high and I need to put a car (vette, fbody) intake on. What all do I need to do this? the crossover tube for the fuel rail is obviously too tall as well and the truck fuel rail has the pressure reg on it which I really need to keep since that makes things much easier on me???

just off the top of my head... injectors, fuel rail, EGR if equipped, pcv/vacuum hoses might be different, water crossover tubes, and intake gaskets

oh, dont forget you need an intake!

Not sure what accessories you are using, but I dont think the truck accessories work with the car intakes.

Yes, I'm keeping all the truck acc. Why would that matter? Or you talking something else other than the belt driven acc? I'm not going to use egr so I was assuming intake, fuel rails and misc hoses??

Thanks for the quick responce.

Truck Water pump outlet (top) is in the way of a F-Body T/B. Check the Performace Truck section as may of the Truck gen iii guys have swapped the F-body intakes to there trucks.

I am doing this on my LQ9 engine right now. Do you have a throttle cable or drive by wire? I have the dbw and this makes the swap a little more difficult. You can switch your water pump to the 07 water pump if you are using the throttle cable. This puts the outlet away from the throttle body. I bought a 98 f-body water pump that had the bolt on pulley (12552059) and spaced the pulley out 3/4". You can get these at napa for $107 with a lifetime warranty.
For the fuel rail you can use the 97 corvette rail and regulator(12556705
and 12554677). It is hard to find these used. New is about $250. Professional Products has fuel rails for about $65 and a kit with a regulator for $179. Part numbers are 10610 for the rails and 10611 for the kit. They use pipe threads for the fittings. I wanted to have the rails with o-ring ports and bought the ones listed in Summit for $185. I also bought a fuelab regulator. They are in Litchfield, IL for $120. The truck injectors are shorter and you will need to figure out something if you want to keep them. I bought 02 28lb injectors and new connectors for the harness.

You'd have to use some car accessories as well... the Water pump outlet will not clear the throttle body on the truck water pump...

-OR-

Keep the truck accessories, and get the L92 water pump. It clears, but I think the alternator will still be in the way of your hood....

Well, I went out and looked a couple times. The water pump does not seem to be in the way at all?? Now the idler pulley, that may very well be. Does the 93 have a different water pump? I have the cable throttle body now as I didn't want DBW. I have some new 28lb injectors from a couple years ago never installed so no problem there. I hope to get a corvette pan here pretty soon so I'll just drop it in and see what i've got. I know it's tight

Hmm, pretty sure my TB will not hit the pump outlet. The cable throttle body does not stick out near as much as that one (DBW). Now I can see about the alt...that might hit the hood Out of curiosity I pulled the idler pully from my 87 vette and it's a perfect match to replace the pully that's in the way. It lines up perfectly with the other pulleys. Some ideas at least.

Where did you find that, or did you make it? Can you weld the brackets? Not sure what they are made of (alum I know but). If they are I can cut/tig?

I am considering this myself, will the truck injector harness work? And assuming that the same size f-body injectors are used, will the computer need to be re-programmed?

Trucks use a different injector (plug is different and I think it's a different length?). I already have the 28lb ls1 injectors (car) and the connectors so I'll just snip the ones off the truck harness. The connectors are pretty cheap and I scored brand new injectors a couple years ago for less than $50. If you use the same size no pcm changes are needed as far as that goes.

PM me with your email address and I will send the drawing files for the brackets. I have tried to post them but the resolution gets lost and you can't read the dimensions on the drawings. I made them out of 1/2" aluminum plate and 1" aluminum tubing. The best place I found to buy it from is mymetalconnection.com.
