I was going to put ford valve covers also with a dual snorkle air cleaner on mine.

If I can pick your brain a lil, i'm trying to figure out the best/cheapest route to go for the steering rack. Is it easier to just do the pinto rack like you and go manual? Or go for power steering?
it depends on what you really want... I personally don't like power steering and the pinto rack is really easy to turn, even with big tires on front. With the skinnies, it's joke to turn with the skinny fronts.

the pinto rack also gives a little more room between the pan and the k-member and it's a lot lighter than a powersteering setup.

Cheapest(if you have p/s already on it) would be to just buy a k-member with the standard mounts.

Best, IMO, would be to get a pinto rack and k-member with the pinto mounts

before i put a spool in the car, the pinto rack felt like power steering almost.
more turns, but manuvering the wheel was quite easy.
most of the time i drove through parking lots with tight corners with one hand talking on the phone.
not with the spool, though.

I know the feeling, I have had my car for 2 years. I thought it was only going to take a few months.

It is a single disc 10" deal from Rob Youngblood at Advanced Clutches
fully adjustable, billet aluminum flywheel.
When I switch over to nitrous, it will be getting a dual 5.5" setup that only weighs 13 lbs complete assembly, including the flywheel

on a project i was helping with, were thinking of using a quarter master 5.5 double disc on a project that got scrapped.
heres what i figured would work well,
JW LS crank to SBC Flexplate adapter/spacer
SBC SFI 168 tooth flexplate
SBC scattershield,
Quarter Master or ZOOM Vdrive clutch 5.5 or 7.25 double disc.
but the guy wanted to use a 3spd rebuilt saginaw, but i beleive the jerico would have been better match. i still think i can build something similiar.
the guy went with th350 instead, engine only around 500bhp

You know, I originally was going to put a TH350 in it and with 800hp and running an n/a combo, I would have spent close to $6000, just on a badass 3 speed auto without converter or shifter. I got my Jerico off racingjunk for $3100 with vgate shifter and clutch. It cost me $300 to get the clutch rebuilt and another $800 for the billet LS flywheel. So now I have a sbc and an ls flywheel, 7 discs and two pressure plates all for less than $5000. Now I can pick my launch rpm and can adjust the clutch for track conditions and the Jerico/Advanced clutch deal will put a lot more power to the wheels than any automatic could ever dream

So, we took a harder look at the cage that came with my car and it was a complete disaster and after cutting one bar out to update it to 25.5, we realized the entire cage was ****. I literally pulled some bars out with my hands... the welds were ****.
So, here is what my car looks like now and there is 120feet of chromoly waiting to go in my car to complete an entirely new 25.5 cage...

this one I pulled out with my hands.. nice ******* welds.. I hate people

Keep at it!

I've been ripping up the track lately in my coupe. It's been a best of 10.17@130 all motor.

It took me 2 years to get my car done. My little girl slowed me down a bit, so I known what you mean about having kids lol.

GL with the rest of the build!

So, I got my new clutch today. Advanced Clutches fully adjustable rated at 1000hp.

the second picture is of my old standard sbc flywheel, but I wanted to show you what the other side of the flywheels look like. It's pretty sick and LIGHT!!!

The stock floor will be going back into the car, but for the 25.5, it was going to be a pain in the *** to weld the top, so we cut it out and will be lowering the cage down to weld completely and then putting it back in place and the floors will go back under the cage. From under the car, you won't be able to see any of the cage at all..
