Default Ls1 in a 93-97 Car

IF you have a complete donor car to swap everything over (ie wiring, dash, ect) would that work?

Or is it easier to go w/ a stand alone kit for the LS1 and just wire up custom gauges etc?

Actually all you need is the pcm/computer and the engine and trans harness. and convert it or have it converted. I am having a place convert my 99ls1 harness to work in my 95 car and since i have the obd2 port I will be able to tune it also and still keep my 95s dash harness. it will cost me $225 to get converted.

O rly?

So they can make the LS1 harness adapt to the 93-97 cars?

That would be the hot ticket

I don't mind doing some work,but wiring is a pita,and for $225 you can't beat that

Plus you can find the older 4th gens for much cheaper

Who are you getting to rework your harness? Got a site? email address? Phone #?

Thanks,

Bubba

What else is needed obviously the basic fuses and relays but not much else. For mine I am not running ac,tc,cruise or emissions it will be just a basic stand alone harness. Yes If you have a donor car then yes thats simpler but some people do not have a donor car and a lot of places that have a wrecked ls1 f-body usually sell the engine/trans together and not with the car.

your stock gauges wont work without having it tuned youll need an extra temp sensor...youll need to have a good understanding of wiring to be able to cut and splice the harness because it doesnt plug in...youll have to figure out how to make the fuel system work unless you use vette rails...youll need a subframe or conversion mounts..its late and thats all ive got off the top of my head

Oh well ya thats all understandable i didn't mean you will just need the pcm/harness and thats it I was just on the topic of wiring. and actually the only vette rails that work without modifying the fuel system is the 97-98 other wise you need the vette fuel filter/reg

Default Wiring

All you need is the motor, LS1 computer and wiring harness, Speartech can rewire the harness for you so your stock gauges work and it is plug and play.
Just did a LS1 swap into my buddy's 97 V6 Bird and Speartech did the harness, it worked out great

Hope that help
