John, I tell you what.. most if not all home swaps (and even shop) are all different. But the good new is that it has been done many time. (search on the Gen II guys)
Check with some of the major vendors and the sponsor here. Many of the Header companys are now starting to make swap header along with Custom SS kits.

While not the same subframe or steering arrangment, most of your "issues" are the same ones you will find in the first gens. Cooling, Wiring, Oilpan clearance, AC location, exhaust routing, locating the crossmember, and shifter location, Speedo hookup, Tach hookup, Computer Programming, FUEL DELIVERY. Should not be a super difficult swap, there are several second gen swaps on the site. ALso, for pretty detailed overall installs, there are a few good threads under the hall of fame sticky, plus look up Rodder's swap notes as well. You should have a pretty easy go....

Is easier, but fuel injection is the way to go. I wil never go back to a carb. Better fuel ecomonomy and better drivability are just to name a few of the advantages, along with easier starting in cold weather.

There's nothing hard about doing FI in these swaps, it's just a question of what you can do yourself and what you want to pay to have done.

yeah it has a 402 in it that gets a few miles to the gallon and i wanna daily drive this thing or just be able to take it on trips and stuff instead of pulling it and i love my 98 with the ls1 and just figured i would challenge myself a little bit and do an ls1 swap

I agree with Cam72aro... After doing my swap and driving it for the past year.. FI is for me.. at least for my Chevelle which is used for cruz'in and nightly drive in's. Even with 4.10 I still get 23+ on the highway... ! lets see you do that with a carb setup. !

Most of my buddies are still driving there big cam'd and carb'd classic.. but they have to fill up 2-3 times before i even think about it..

As far as a Challenge in swapping in the physical engine and trans.. that is almost as easy as going from a sbc to a bbc or bbc to a sbc with the amount of swap hardware out there now a days ! It will only be as hard as you try to make it and that goes for the Cost of doing a swap.. low cost basic swap it in or bling it out..!

FI is where its at. I get anywhere from 15-23 miles to the gallon in my car. Spraying it, driving it easy, running ac. I love it on a cold morning when I can push in the clutch. bump the key and it fires right up. No pumping the carb, fire, die, fire, die, pump 3 more times, fire, die, get it to run, hold it at 2500 till it warms a bit then it might wanna idle. I wont go back. Love the injection way too much.
