Thank you so much. One interesting thing that I noticed is that the VSS input is optional. This will greatly simplify my install since I am using a Richmond 6spd.

Can it control an AC compressor (raise idle, etc) like the factory ECM?

Reading the instructions for the LS2 harness it says to run 50psi of fuel pressure. I was planning on using the corvette filter/FPR which sets fuel pressure at 58 psi for my rx7 ls2 conversion....does anyone think that is going to cause any major fueling issues?

I figure it will run a tad rich but I am going to have a couple bolt ons which will increase air flow a little bit.

Either way I am buying this harness, but if that 8psi is going to cause major issues I am going to have to revamp my fuel setup completely to something which cost alot more $$$.

You are correct sir.

Now that I look at it again it isn't very clear but looks like 60psi. That is better for me.

Here is a site that sells harnesses for the LS1, but its just the harness. I was going to get one of these until I got a 58x engine.

http://speartech.com/
http://currentperformance.com/LS2.html

Both have complete LS2 packages with factory computers which can be reprogrammed for when you do any upgrades or changes later on.
The factory GM package comes with a computer that isn't accessible for later tuning.

That's not 100% proven yet about the ecm not being programable. Not to mention the GM kit is about $800 and it includes the MAF/IAT and O2 sensors. Last I checked the other options were $1600+ and they included almost nothing but harness, pedal, and ecm.

So how does your car run? I browsed thru the GMPP website but I cant find anything about using this on an ls1. Could I use the ls2 kit if I swapped to Throttle By Wire?

It runs pretty good. I have a FTI Streetsweeper HT cam and the intake/TB has been ported. I have a slight surge/buck at low rpm's under light load, but that's about it. It starts up everytime and it doesn't stall.

Maybe you had a connection to get that harness kit for $800, but for the average guy to buy it, it is around $1050.00.

That's nice that it comes with the sensors, but when I am already dropping a bunch of money on an install, I'd rather have a custom tune for my application and a custom made harness with a more compact fuse block then that big honkin thing they supply on the GM one.

Also, not sure when the last time you checked was... but I don't think CPW is over $1300 for their T56 package.

For a few hundred more, on a project that is already in the thousands, I can have full custom, and support for questions from someone who knows what they are talkign about... that I like.

I got my harness from Scoggin Dickey shipped to my house for $815. It's now listed on the website for $924 or GMPD for $837. For my application I didn't care if it was "custom" as long as it worked. Everything is labelled, all of the emission stuff is gone, and the fuse block fits fine. I would have a really hard time buying that the size of the fuse block would deter someone from getting this kit....

I'm not trying to **** all over speartech or whoever, I just think that people should know about all of the options out there. The prices on the websites are close to what I said earlier 1300-$1700. That's almost double what the GM stuff runs. Not to mention the MAF/IAT and O2's add up to at least another $100-200. To me the value of the GM kit and the money left in my bank account out weighs the tech support I would probably never use anyways.

GMPD - $837 + $184.18 in S&H - $1021.38
SD Parts - $924.85 + around $30 shipping - 954.85

Neither one is $815, so you got a pretty good deal being one of the first ones.

These harnesses come with ECUs that are application specific. Right now the only ones that are shipping are for an LS2, LS3, LS7. All engines use 58 tooth crank wheels and have DBW throttle bodies. At some point the 480HP LS3 harness will be shipping as well.

So today we finally got the car on the dyno and YES the ECM is tunable. We assigned the ECM a VIN for a 2006 CTS-V using the GM Tech Tool and then tuned it just like you would tune any other LS car with HP Tuners. This is great news for those looking for a factory style harness for the new LS2/3/7 motors...

Hell yeah! How is the ls2 different from the ls1 sensorwise?

Can you install the 58t crank wheel on an ls1??
