Why? because now he's got a lump of a body layin' around doin' nothing. DO IT! old school SBC are still getting cheaper and cheaper to build, they make decent HP, and it should not be hard to put it in the car. Hell, the bellhousing patterns are the same so ANY GM tranny will work. You've allready got the fuel lines, a good radiator, headers from a third Gen Camaro might fit. DO IT !!

Hummm, So you don't like power and reliability? Well, I guess to each his own. It would be eye catching, thats for sure. I think there is some sort of man law against that?

news flash, you can make just as much power with a sbc as a ls1........ with a carb as fuel injectors.....

$ for $ you can't do it. Not reliably. If you had to get all the parts together to make two 550 HP engines, LS engines are cheaper hands down.

1) Yes, this is the wrong forum.
2) Yes, many people have done that

Here's the right forum: https://ls1tech.com/forums/small-block-big-block-chevy-specific-92/

See the "BBC/SBC conversion how to" sticky.

yeah a couple of u guys hit it right on the head, i bought a 98 for 1500 bucks and sold all motor tranny pute and harness for 4gs(hopefully) and i have a sweet looking car that goes no where lol. i have a crap load of of the older gen small block part so it only makes since to me. and actually it is way cheaper to build a 500 hp old scool motor than an ls1. im sticky a single turbo 355 in my 91 camaro and i started with a block bought all new internals cam heads intake carb everything and have less than 5000 in it(not including turbo stuff), u cant build an ls1 from the ground up for that price. and yes while the ls1 is incredibly reliable i drove carb cars from the time i was 16 till i was 21(im only 22) and they started right up every morning, living in ohio where we get 0 degree weather and snow thats pretty good i think. thanks for the link and everybodies opinion

Why bother with 3rd gen parts...the 4th gen's came with LT1's...those are "gen 2's" but they're the same as gen 1's for headers...and you KNOW they'll fit the car. 1993-1997 dude.
