[QUOTE=ls1_miata;9582521]
Yes and no. My assumption was that the MAF table was off so I would basically be correcting it to account for the different flow vs. frequency curve my custom intake has. [QUOTE]

Yah, you are correct. I am relatively new to PCM tuning, am learning as I go.
After asking in the EFI forum & hearing from a few guys here in the tuning section, learned that my MAF flow vs frequency was off by 26.5%.....WOW!
Re-scaling the MAF table ended all of my other related tuning issues & made a huge difference.

The car had been proffessionally tuned after the intake, head, cam. Having tuning software revealed that the tuner only tuned for WOT & had also not modified the MAF table. The non PE tune was way off & I'm sure that @ WOT she was leaner than commanded. Thank goodness for knock sensors. A dissapointment, but, also a learning experience. Having tuning software is a blessing. The modified tune is nearly complete & the car loves it.

PS: Not a knock against proffessional tuners; most are top notch.

Here are a couple new pics with my race set of tires/wheels. They are 15x7 Motegi Traklite's with 35mm offset (weigh 10.5 lbs) with 225/45 Toyo RA-1's. Enjoy.

I fixed the video links

I have. Went to Talladega Grand Prix back in May. It was more of a lets go out and see what goes wrong so I can fix it rather than an all out race. Had a CV boot bust (wasn't vented properly) and diff case was found to be defective (junkyard part..) so replaced both of those and all good.

Also been to a couple autocrosses. Its fun.

Who knows........It's more about how much power & early torque one can drive on a short wheel base & limited rear tire width. If you like top end, I have seen a 650RWHP turbo Miata, but, it doesn't have the low end torque of an LSX. The highest low end torque & over 400WHP Miata that I have seen is turbotacoma. There is another known LS2 as well, but, am thinking that he won't set-up to make the power that turbotacoma has. I personally can't drive much more than low 400's HP & TQ. For this reason, my car will never get there. Although, I do think that I could handle a 650 HP/350 TQ turbo set-up. So, it's a matter of preference & driving skill.

The reason I am asking is because I was thinking of putting a LS7 427 engine that I am building in to my 1991 Miata. I am also worried about the size of tire and the traction problems I'll be having with a power plant of this nature. By the way LS1-450 which long tube headers did you use to fit?

They're custom made from Diamondmotorsports. Diamond is now out of business. There is the comapny that ls1miata used, that makes a swap header, but, I don't think it's a long tube design. ls1miata will have to say for sure. The key to traction is gear ratio & tire size. If you tub the rear, you can get larger wheels in, but, then will need a 5 lug hub, in order to find wheels wide enough, which is another story. Although, I think there is now a company making a 15"x9", 4x100 wheel. Am thinking that this was discussed earlier in this thread as well.

Anyway, turbotocoma is better suited to help with traction related to your higher powered set-up. I am not really sure what will work. Your car will be bad *** for sure.

A few here & there. No web site or anything like that. Really, the key areas are the front k-frame w/ steering location & the locating & proper supporting of the rear end. There's a lot more to it, but, these two are most important. Am happy to send you pics of areas in question (if I have them) & answer questions. As stated though, your building a Miata w/ power levels that I am not familiar with. In a Miata, the higher one gets above the 400/400 mark, the more challenging the build.

I was thinking about your build this afternoon. For sure, I would suggest 31 spline differential & carrier. Also, would consider an alloy &/or hardened half shafts. Just doesn't seem to me that a 28 spline is gonna hold up as well to your power.
