Talking Caterham vs Atom

So how much is the superlight roadster supposed to weigh?
The rolling kit is about 1200lbs, add your engine / trans at 425 lbs = 1625 lbs. Maybe less?

As someone else said I see this as motorcycle with 4 wheels. Here are some videos below. I like the Caterham vs Atom.

How would you put an Ls1 in it?? everything I've been reading says it needs a fwd style transaxle.

What transaxle mates up to the Ls1 that is even relativly affordable?

Edit: I answered my own question.. the same transaxle they use in the GTM supercar. The porsche transaxle, but thats not cheap and who knows if it fits.

The V8 motor made from 2 hyabusa motors with a sequential tranny would make this thing the *****.. but that engine/tranny alone would cost WAY more than the chassis

The manufacture has extended the chassis 5 inch to the fit the G50 gearbox and LS2. A stock setup IMO costs 7k LS2 crate motor etc and 6k G50 gearbox. Plus the 50k (est) for the roller = 63k + 2k extras = 65k for a car that at least can win a drag race with an Ariel Atom.

How bout in the 16K roadster?

I cant afford the expensive car but the roadster for 12 or 16k I could swing.

Anyone worried about weight balance with these little exo cars.. a 430lb ls1 is nothing in a 3000lb car but in a 1200lb chassis it really effects weight distribution and polar moment of inertia if its not close to the center of the car.

The Superlite Roadster is designed for FWD type cars ie the Honda K20 motor trans package. Fitting a LS engine in the SL-R IMO would not be worth the trouble, but in the Deronda a different story it is made for it. The power to weight of a 300 hp K20 Honda SL-R should be plenty for 99% of us.

I think the supercharged K20 would be a better fit for the personality of the car too, and lightern it up a bit over the ls1/g50

Your right the K motor might be 200 lbs lighter than the LS2 but if the Deronda people get the motor and chassis balanced I think it will be a good challenge.

Lightbulb April 2008 Newsletter

The "Type G" Newsletter
April 2008
Issue Number: 001

WHAT'S NEW
It has been awhile since we've released new information on the development of the Deronda sports car. The last twelve months at the Trenton factory have been busy! We are happy to announce that the US version, the Deronda "Type G" is now in production. There have been some significant updates to the car which have enhanced quality, performance and safety. The first three cars are in production and orders are currently being taken for the next 15 cars.

WHAT IS A "Type G" YOU ASK?
The "Type G" is the V8 powered version of the Deronda sports car.
The engine of choice for the Deronda "Type G" will be the GM
LS2 V8 crate engine as standard. Horsepower and torque are rated at
405/405 respectively. The LS2 can be mated to a Porsche G50 transaxle.
Optional upgrades will include the GM LS7 crate engine. With the
"Type G" weighing in at 1700 lbs I guess you could say that the "G" in
"Type G" stands for GO!

Chassis # 001 with LS7
The view from your rear view mirror
A collapsible steering column is just one of the many safety upgrades.
"Type G" SPECIFICATIONS
A DOT approved windscreen is now available as seen

"Type G" INFORMATION
