Default Good deal for an L92?

I'm looking to swap an LS? into my 73 Buick Century (a-body).
I'm liking the idea of an L92.
I found a complete (intake, oil pan, exhaust mans, flex plate, water pump etc) L92 (never ran) for around $4000. It is a GM factory overstock. Is that a good deal?

It does not include computer, accessories or harness.
Are stand alones out there?

I assume it has the VVT. I'm only planning on adding headers for now and keeping the VVT (over 400 horse stock in the Escalade).
Also I plan to go manual trans, so I'm gonna need tuning.

This is supposed to be a budget project. Am I going to nickle and dime myself to death here?

I'm reading the stuff I'm finding in search, but there is alot to weed through.

I'm finding the 6.2 GM crate motor, that is essentially what I'm looking at. There has gotta be a harness out there, right?

BTW I intend to keep the fuel injection.

I am not sure that budget and the l92 go hand in hand. But then again everyones "budget" is different. Why not pick up a complete 6.0 for $1500 or less? The little things are what add up. accesories, harness, programming, then all the little fittings here and there.

Just make sure you add up the cost of all the accsesories you wont have first. The crate engines look attractive until you add up the rest of the stuff. You can typically buy a complete ls1 pullout including trans for $4000 or less, somtimes even an ls2.The l92 will be a little harder to find though, and higher, not too many in salvage yards yet.The little stuff adds up more than you'd think.

Looks like GMPP has a couple harnesses for thier L92/LS3/L76 based crate engines (19201327,18201861), but thats just on their vague online catolog. Anyone know how I can get more specific info?

And, yeah complete 6.0 was my original plan (maybe w L92 heads later).
But then I found this L92...

Default cost breakdown for L92 truck crate engine not LS3

Part # Price S&H shipped
19165485 L92 engine $6,165.12 $1,356.33 $7,521.45

vs

19165485 L92 engine $3,500.00 ? $500.00 ? $4,000
12590123 L92 dbw intk $562.64 $123.78 $686.42 GM Partsdirect
19201861 LS3 harness $837.20 $184.18 $1,021.38 GM Partsdirect
19155067 Gen IV w ac $982.80 $26.75 $1009.55 SD parts

total $6,717.35 ??

I have a cts-V oil pan so I did not include that cost:

I think that my list would get you a running L92 engine with dod, you will need a tech II to get a vin # on the ecu that comes with the harness...
