The other issue you touched on was the "perky butt" issue FFR's have. I wouldn't call it a problem, more of a characteristic of the kit. It really didn't bother me that much. There are body mods out there you can do to drop the butt of the car. Here's a few pics away from the car to give you an idea:

Great build, amazing attention to detail. Didn't see if you decided to keep that shift ****, had the exact same one on my 4 banger mustang in high school. Good work!

thanks for that shot, just looked it up on the mk4,looks like they addressed it on the new body. it goes flatter in the back and covers the gas tank but your gas tank isn't visible either.
For example here mine:
Vs the new MK4:
They actually made some nice improvements on the new body now. The bolt holes are now hidden. You can see them on the MK3's. The body edges are rolled. I'm going to have to pay to get mine done that way. And just the final finish is all together better. Honestly if the body wasn't drastically different I'd look into swapping mine out for a newer one..

Love the car. I've wanted an FFR Cobra for years, just being a died in the wool GM guy I couldn't bring myself to have something with a Ford in it, well that and the $$$
Now if I can just overcome the money issue I could live with an LS powered Cobra.

Been driving the car around for the past few months when I'm in town. Working the little bugs out of it. This weekend has been raining so I got the mirrors on and the dash covered.

Little update. The FFR just ticked over 1000 miles. Went to take it for a short sping this past weekend. However pulling out of the driveway I heard a clunking sound from the rear. So I'm like ok WTF. Pulled it back in and got her jacked up to find this little gem..
Don't really like breaking parts but goes with the territory right. So upon further inspection it looks like the shock blew out. There was oil all over the housing and under the adjustment collar. So I've got a set of replacements on the way. Thinking back to the previous weekend I did hear some noises coming from the rear as I pulled into the garage after driving it. I just didn't think anything about it..

Ya I said the same thing when I got the tire off. I have no idea who their source is for springs. I've emailed them. Either way I've been eyeballing a set of adjustable QA1's for awhile now...

Thanks. I'm debating either doing a coupe or the 33 rod build for the next project.
Post up if you do the build... :0
Ya I've always thought the koni's were the better of the 2. I've had them on all of my previous cars. The shock is adjustable however it's a pain. I've had the rear on the softest setting and I still didn't like the way it handled. I mean it's great but I'm wanting something a little more.. I've tried all different springs from 350lb down to 250lb. I took a ride in another FFR with the QA1's and liked it. So since it's up on jack stands might as well give em a shot..

It has Koni's on it now right? From what I have read and talking to Sam Strano the Q1A's aren't as good as the Koni's.

I know there are different ways you can order the suspension. Is there any difference in using stock mustang parts and then using coil overs compared to ordering it with coil overs?
Or is it six of one half dozen of another?
I considered using a IRS out of a 03-04 Cobra. I was on ffcars.com this morning and found someone who had done it. It ended up being a little more work than I thought. I think you have to modify the half shafts and use some parts off a Thunderbird. I would have to sit down and look at the overall cost to see if it would be worth it or not.
