How hard would it be to....
My mom has a 350Z with like 40k on it, and the motor threw a rod. So I was wondering if I persuaded her to give me the car ($$$) how hard would it be to install a LS6 in a 04' 350Z and my built gto trans? Or would there trans hold it the power?

Probably better to just put the T56 in there, but I hope your really good at wiring. I am doing an ls1/rx7 and the only reason I got through it is because of the detailed writeups available on the internet. There is no such writeups on the ls1/350z

dude..you should prob start with a more well known swap. Sell her car and then get yourself an rx7. They are a lot easier to swap, and even then.... you better do A LOT more research before embarking on the swap.

I have a 10 second fbody. I just thought it would bee sweet to shed 500lbs and be able to handle tons better.
Its not about having a diff. setup, this is just whats available (ls6 engine, 350Z car)
Sounds like it might not be worth the trouble.

i dont think it would be that hard. im not sure of the 350z wiring but if its like most newer cars you can just use both harnesses and computers from the 350z and the lsx.
if the motor will physically fit then it shouldn't be no hardier then swapping in a rx7/240sx/300zx are any of the other many swaps that have been done. worst you will have to do is cut and box out the firewall. theres a guy here somewhere that has a lsx/300zx. the motor fit but he didnt like the way it sat in there so he cut the firewall and boxed it out to push it back more.
the way i see it is, putting a rwd engine in a rwd car aint rocket science.
make motor bolt up + point in the correct angle towards rear diff = done.

materials will depend on what actually needs to be made to make it fit. IIRC the VQ35 has a similar mount style as the corvette, might be as easy as some kind of adapter plate. could also require major modifications to crossmember, oil pan, and steering components. i've only seen the swap done in one car and it wasn't documented in a detailed way so your guess is as good as mine.
you could use the 4L60E as long as you have the proper harness/ecu, just might take a bit more clearance work in the tunnel compared to a manual trans.

^ it is a nightmare for that car to make headers , the room near the bottom is not much. Granted all you guys love V8s to death and you want them in every car , but why not rebuild the VQ and utitlize the twin turbo setups available for the car? That way you save some cash which you can put into suspension or other mods or if you wanted to go all out you can do the powerhouse Amuse mod ... RB26det and rb25/26 (your pick)tranny into the 350z .. that way the car handles and boosts.
btw the stock 350z tranny has some beefy gears

I just like the way the car feels/rides and looks. And wanted more than the motor can produce. I mean 400rwhp+125 shot in a 500lb lighter car would be pretty monsterous. If its not TOO much of a hassle, I may do the swap. I just need to utilize what I have, and I dont have a t-56 or a TT 350Z motor.

They're trying to tell you that it would be easier to fix the 350Z motor and then Twin Turbo it rather then spend the countless hours necessary to put an LSx in there. No offense but you don't seen to realize the difficulties in an engine swap like that. You're going to have to completely re-wire the car using a LSX CPU. On top of that you're going to have to custom fabricate just about everything for it yourself or by outsourcing it to someone with the know how, and that can cost $$$$$$$$$$$ lots of it. If you want a 400 HP 350z there are easier ways of doing it.

I thought I made it clear that what I wanted. An LS6 engine in a 350Z. I appreciate the positive input, but the "fix the 350z engine, or TT it" comments aren't helping at all. I need to to know what all the swap will take. And as far as me asking the question on the internet, well I see countless others doing it, so why cant I?
