I have been following your thread and I recently installed one in my 1996 Impala SS. I originally had a T56 with my LY6 6.0 and I am using a 2007 Corvette program. I have been having some trouble getting it to shift out of gear. I am getting TCM codes U0100(lost comm w/ ecm & pcm), U121(lost comm w/ ABS module) and U140 (lost comm w/ body ctrl module). Since I don't have the BCM or ABS module, do I need to somehow terminate the Can Hi speed connection at the pin? I am pretty sure I am in limp mode. Any help would be appreciated.

Haven't fit the body to the chassis yet. I'm almost certain I'll need to cut the tunnel some.

WOW....I have to thank you guys for putting so much useful information in one spot. I am going to look at a 69 firebird tomorrow with hopes of doing a LSX 6 speed combo. I am hoping to utilize some connections I have at GM (I'm an ex drive quality engineer from LY6/MYD and L76/MYC). I have still in some what regular contact with my MYD lead calibrator. The problem I have is I need to finish up my 63 austin mini VTEC conversion before I will be able to put money into this car.

Hopefully by then you guys will have everything figure out. Keep up the good work.

Hey cool! Another A6 convert! It's all figured out. The Camaro has been on the road for near on 2 years now and going strong. Apart from a little matter of too much torque in 1, 2 & 3. Some traction aids and D/R's required . Gets driven almost daily when its not raining.

rsz288,
I have searched the whole thread on this and I don't see where you posted the "After" pictures of your project.. I am doing a 2010 L96/6L90E for my 1970 Monte Carlo.. I have been searching for a 09 CTS-V 6l90 Pan and Filter for my project just in case..

It was awesome reading through all the threads..

Thx,
Kevin

Hey Kevin,

Thanks for the rap.

FYI these are probably the key "after" shots showing the position of the trans pan in relation to the engine oil pan.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/11613532-post116.html

If you are looking for ground clearance the G8 pan with an extension piece to fit a 6L90E case is probably the way to go. It is the shallowest pan. From memory a pic of the CTS-V for 09 I saw had a standard deep pan.

What else you interested in seeing?

Cheers

I am sorry.. I did see those pictures.. I was so wrapped up in the threads I didn't see that it was you that posted them..
That pan thing still has me thinking... I know for sure that my pan doesn't hang down lower than the oil pan.. Then again I'm dealing with a 2010 L96 6.0L motor and 6L90E trany.. Who knows maybe GM changed something!

I am still searching for LS Conversion motor mounts for my project.. I might have found what I "want" from Muscle Rods http://www.brphotrods.com
Their mounts will locate the new engine in the same location as the 350 that is in it now.. and they assure me that the trans mount will suppert that HUGE 6L90E.. They have alot of other needed items as well.

Thanks,
Kevin

FYI - used ATS mounts here, they mount the engine as low as possible with an F Body pan and position it for/aft for a regular GM low mount alternator to fit, and made up a rear cross member. It needed to be really stiff to carry the trans weight.

Default Trans Pan Extension

Had a couple PM's regarding the trans pan extension to convert a shallow 6L80E pan to a 6L90E shallow pan. Thought I had already posted a shot but clearly not!

This shot shows the 5/16" fabbed to shape plate extension which is brazed on to the shallow pan from the shorter 6L80E trans and fills the void that shows up when a 6L80 pan is used on a 6L90.

Ta Rich. Flooding is mainly in the north eastern quarter of the country. Rained in a lot of places but not like that area. Am further south.

Trans setup is going fine thanks. About 8,000 miles on it now. Very happy with the results.

Cheers!

Default 70 chevelle

Gonna throw my name in the "building a 6 speed Hat" We are building a 70 chevelle for a customer with a new wet sump LS7 and 1 6L80E. The Frame is a custom built unit from Street Rod Garage. We have raised the engine and trans a little for clearance as the car will be low! We are starting on the new tunnel this week. I really want to run the G8 shifter and be able to manual shift it but have not gotten all the answers on that yet. I have some pics of the project but could not get them to load. I guess I am not puter litterate enough, LOL

Thanks
Roy

Default ls1 swap

Hi, I just bought a 5.3 with 6l80e complete from a 2009 truck. The plan is to install this setup into my 78 x body nova. I am excited, and happy to see all the posts about the swap, especially the pics with the trans tunnel work.

I'm heading down to my garage to cut out my trans tunnel to test fit a 09 6L90. This thread has been the driving force behind my swap. After reading this thread over and over again for years, I feel confident that this swap will be a breeze. Thanks for all the photos and info.

Hi, from this pic looks like you had to alter your trans cross member again. I'm installing a 6l90 into a 78 nova. The 3 degree angle of the trans is what i don"t like it is sitting with the tail shaft pointing down to low and if i raise it up to be level the yoke hits the floor any more pic of your finished install might help.

Fab'd a cross member to suit. The stock x member would have needed to be cut and shut and IMHO engineering opinion would have been too much of a "U" from where it bolts to the sub frame back to the tail end of the trans.

The weight of the trans at the rear dictates a pretty stiff x member to prevent resonance/vibes so the cross piece was welded to extension plates so it could be straight across side to side.

The angle is 1/2 degree down when finished. Was aiming for zero to less than one.

Trust that helps!

Cheers
