Back to the led sled, I would put the lake pipes back on and paint the car like a mellow yellow. Also, use vintage wheels or hub caps for the era. I would put an auto tranny in for slow cruising.

Some 18" smoothies would look killer on that.

I think you should do a grill like Troy's Bumongous ride.

If I had money tell you what I'd do
I'd go downtown and buy a Mercury or two
I’m crazy 'bout a Mercury, I'm crazy 'bout a Mercury
I'm gonna buy me a Mercury and cruise it up and down the road

The girl I love, I stole it from a friend
He got lucky stole her back again
Cuz’ She knew he had a Mercury, she knew he had a Mercury
I'm gonna buy me a Mercury and cruise it up and down the road

Hey now mama you look so fine
Ridin' round in your Mercury 49
I’m crazy 'bout a Mercury, I'm crazy 'bout a Mercury
I'm gonna buy me a Mercury and cruise it up and down the road

My baby went out she didn't stay long
She bought herself a Mercury, came a cruisin' home
I’m crazy 'bout a Mercury, I’m crazy 'bout a Mercury
I'm gonna buy me a Mercury and cruise it up and down the road

If I had money tell you what I'd do
I'd go downtown and buy a Mercury or two

The black one I linked has a '53 Desoto grille, very pimp, hard to find, and expensive. But I'm looking.

John,

Now that you got a sled, you need to check out http://www.thenightprowlers.com/. They have lots of Kustom stuff, including a variety of grills and pieces to make grills. Real nice people too.

Pat I have identified like 3-4 parts from my Merc that are on that website, including the foot gas pedal. I'm guessing the builder bought a lot of stuff from that website.

Car wouldn't look bad in a gray like the Cobra movie Merc, but black is more trad.

Stu are you running braided fuel lines to the stock rails or??? I am running braided to custom rails on my Formula.

What pan works best in like a 77-85 Caprice frame? That's what I'm thinking mine is closest too.

John

I would think the F-Body would seem to be the best choice, for ground clearance. But as far as frame clearance, I would think that it all depends on how the body sits on the B-Body frame for fire wall clearance.. Does the engine sit where the stock B-Body SBC go or is it sitting back any?

Since it is a B-Body frame, I would go with what the rest of those years B-Body guys are using for the pan... other options might be the CTS-V and the LH8 (BRP is pushing there kits with it now).

Hey Pat.. you going to make one of the Friday night cruz-in's ?.. we have been getting between 50-90 car every week. If you wait until it warmer.. people will be hanging out longer into the night tho.... If not.. see you in Reno for sure !

I used High pressure rubber hose and clamps to connect from the pump to the regulator. Then I used Hard lines from Dorman to connect the fuel regulator to 3/8 steel line that runs to the front of the car. From the hard line up front I used a braided fuel line from a Corvette to connect to the fuel rail. The pressure regularor is mounted close to the tank.

I actually bought a 12" nippled connector from Dorman, cut it in half and put flared fittings on the cut ends and then used one in front and one in back to connect to the hard lines.

Here are pictures of the regulator near the tank and the connection from the hard line to the fuel rail.

And the fuel rail

Hope that helps

Pat

I know a guy with a 50 merc sled that has an LS1 with LS6 intake and headers, intake, cam, P&Ped heads, and other goodies. It is backed by a t56 and is AMAZINGLY fast for a heavy car. He has 4.10 gears in the rear in a 9"

My Merc looks like a Merc, but it's mostly an A-Body underneath, like a Caprice. I'm going to paint it first and then pull together the swap parts and do the swap over the winter.
