Default why not?

i was driving home the other day when cut off by a cummins dodge. so i went to pass him and that fcking truck was freakin fast!!! at 40-45ish the tires squeeled! will someone build a diesel t/a or camaro im sure the cummins would fit? and a nice tt would make that thing smokin fast! but if it fit im sure there would be trans/rear gear issues? what do u guys think?

I think it would be very very heavy up front.

well at most it would weigh around what a gto would! see a diesel with 600 hp and 8-900 torq should help the weight to power ratio...no? i am a torq wins the race kind of guy ya kno

Dunno about the Cummins, but there was a thread awhile back about a Duramax 6.6L diesel with an Allison 6-speed auto, and while the guys said the engines are pretty powerful, they also said that the engine/trans itself weighs 1300 pounds...

I think most of the diesels are iron block, and diesel engines by nature are built sturdier than their gasoline counterparts (I remember reading awhile back about people taking the crappy GM diesels from the 80s and rebuilding them as gas engines, because the block was stronger than the same displacement gas engine). Tons of torque, but the car it would be going into is pretty light, and the extra weight in the front would probably create a lot of problems.

I know my 4 door 4x4 utility body Duramax is an easy 14 second truck with just a tuner, intkae and exhaust. My truck weigh 8800lbs too. I can haul a 12,000lb cat around all day and get 15mpg, and 18mpg empty. which is even low for these engines. Our cummins at work and powerstrokes only average around 9-10mpg while towing and are so much slower yet unmodifed. The cummins is small but not THAT small. It could be done but really anything can be. would have to have like a 2:1 rear ratio though as they dont like to go above 4000rpm.

Well, I don't think it would work in an F-body platform, it did work well in a Olds cutlass
