Default in the middle of swap please help!

okay I am in the middle of swapping a 2002 ls1 and 4l60e into my 95 v6 5 speed camaro. I bought a wrecked 02 for the swap and also bought a lt1 body style crossmember for my tranny. well it wont fit.(see pic) using the lt1 crossmember and the 02 tranny mount. I looked at an lt1 tranny mount and it looks like it wont work either. What are you guys using for this? I cant even modify the crossmember cuz the bolt isnt anywhere near it.

thanks!

wow so the LT1 cross member is actually a few inches to forward? I thought the only difference between the two was how the crossmember bolts up to the body.

You may have to get a small plate welded on and drilled for the mount.

yeah its like an inch and a half to 2 inches off. I was told it would work but that I would have to drill out the hole a little bit but I cant even do that

WTF!!

When I put in a poly Z28 mount in my 3.4, I had to elongate the slot a little bit.

Try making a cardboard mock up adapter plate then take it to a shop to get welded, I cant see that costing too much. You could always go with a UMI or BMR crossmember as well. Ryan @ UMI is pretty knowledgable and can tell you what product you need.

If that is the biggest problem you have to overcome then you have a very easy swap indeed.

Weld a piece of angle iron onto the crossmember and drill a hole.

(Sorry "Pop") Yeah, exactly. If you grind the paint off of the back of your existing crossmember, then get a small piece of steel that's formed like an upside-down squared-off 'U' & weld it to the back of the crossmember, then you should be able to drill a hole for that bolt (or "pin") to go through. Voilą, you're done.

And don't try to get away with just a flat piece of steel! Given what the piece is doing, you're going to want some strength in the vertical plane!!

Good luck.
