Default Compressor relocation brackets?

I was looking at the S&P setup to move the A/C Comp to the high passenger side but they are wanting a small fortune for theirs.

I looked at the one found on Ebay and can't really tell if I like it from the pics posted.

Are there any other options out there that aren't terribly expensive?

I need to relocate the COMP because of clearance issues in my '56 belair.

Dan

Are you running F-body accessories? If so and you want something shiny, I have a polished S&P setup for sale--make me an offer... https://ls1tech.com/forums/lsx-parts-sale/928804-s-p-ac-compressor-bracket-kit.html

I don't like shiny things, so I ended up using the kwikperf brackets instead with a plain compressor from ackits.com. I think the kwikperf bracket is probably what you saw for sale on ebay. My install notes are here: http://www.camaros.net/forums/showpo...4&postcount=19. And pics start here: http://www.blown.net/camaro68/ac/DSCF6513.html

Hmm I have an '03 Vette motor so I guess I can't use your setup. Hell, I might just end up going with the Kwik unit

I wish I would have know about these bracket before I notched my frame. However I don't think any aftermarket company can come up with a AC compressor or drive system that equals the stock GM research and development.

The Delphi/Harrison V5 variable displacement compressor won't work with an expansion valve that isn't exactly matched to it. That means it won't work with a Vintage Air kit, or your stock '70 AC. For a Vintage Air evaporator, the SD5H14 is totally adequate. For your stock '70 AC, your probably need a bigger compressor.

Something that just ocurred to me... I wonder what it'd take to modify the V5 control valve to run at max displacement full-time. Modify the control valve to run at a different precise pressure would be difficult, but seems like modifying it to run wide open seem like it should be a much more sledge-hammer like operation (ie, plug it, drill it out, cut it off... something like that).

I notched my frame and bought a Sandon compressor with rear exit. It did not really take long and now the compressor is out of site. I just hope I don't have to work on it!
