Default 03 5.3 DBW to cable throttle conversion

I have an 03 5.3 that was pulled from a silverado. I will be converting it to a cable actuated throttle body.

Please correct me if I am wrong about any of this.

From what I have read the conversion involves adding both TPS and IAC wiring to the harness, and re-flashing the ECU with an appropriate "base program"(unsure of terminology). I also understand that other pinouts must also be changed depending on which program I decide to use.

People have suggested both the Savanna Van program(which I have a wiring diagram for) as well as the 04 GTO(no diagram as of yet). I have a truck harness so I am thinking the van may require less pin changes, but it uses the 4l80e where as I have the 4l60e. Can someone point me in the right direction in regard to which program choice would make things the easiest.

Another concern that I have is the cheapest and quickest method of having my ECU flashed for the appropriate program before purchasing HP Tuners, which from what I have read is necessary. Who can do this for me and what is the general fee?

Any input is much appreciated guys. I have just about everything else sorted out and would like to start tearing into the harness by the weekend if possible.

Speartech should have the plugs. He could also do the programming. If your into doing it on your own check out the HPTuners forums. To use the savanna program you will need a segment swap in order to control the 60e trans, EC_Tune seems to be pretty knowledgeable about doing a segment swap, he is over on the HPT forums, I can`t remember if he tunes for hire or not.

I don`t know which program would be better. I would lean towards the savanna program as I have heard of it more and I didn`t think that the GTO used the same PCM I thought it was still the old style....But don`t quote me on that I am not an expert on the computer side of this swap.

Lane, they have them on ebay. That is the cheapest I have found.

There are also a couple other vendors you can find by googling LS1 pigtails.

I have a duplicate post on the HP tuners forum, but have yet to get a response.

Can you explain more about the segment swap for the 4l60e control?

Lane any chance you are still doing exhaust work? Im going to need a Y for my project pretty soon and know you guys do/did good work.

No, the reluctors only come in to play on 06-up Gen 4 engines. Doesn't have anything to do with DBW or not in the earlier engines.

Wha? My motor may be an '06... I haven't heard this before! I guess this would affect harness, ecm, etc.?

If you motor is an 07 (58x relucator) you are going to need to pull the crank and have a 24x relucator pressed on if you want to run one of the older PCMs.

58x didn't start in the truck engines until '07.
In '06 the Vette was the only 58 tooth motor.
