Default K&N Cone filter for my LS2

Does anyone know the part number? I just plan on putting the cone filter with some adapters with the MAF sensor right in the front center.

Are their reasons that I should use a tube and located the filter in a different location?

Thanks

Ben

One reason is colder air can be found in places that aren't so close to the engine, especially if it's right behind/above the radiator and the heat emerging from it. I have almost the entire filter inside the driver's fender behind the headlight, probably the furthest possible from the intake.

Also, clearance. A standard cone filter comes in 7 and 9" lengths I believe, and with the MAF there sure as hell wasn't enough clearance with the radiator. You might get away with fitting one in the location you want to if you look at the stubby rectangular filters.

Ah I just noticed you have a chevelle, there's likely enough room for a cone filter, and here is the size filter I used, 7" in length and 3 3/4" dia, it slipped right on the stock size MAF...

K&N PN RU-3530

What did you use to attach the the MAF to the throttle body?

I am installing a LSx into my '69 C10 and have been researching intake ideas.

Thanks!!

I did not attach the MAF directly to throttle body, this is my setup...

1. Filter w/ 3.75" diameter clamped directly to MAF.
2. MAF clamped to 3.75"-to-4" silicon 'adapter coupling'
3. 4" tubing
4. 4"-to-3.75" silicon adapter clamped to tubing and then to throttlebody

Click on the thumbnails below and see if this is what you had in mind. This is KN# RD-6000 ,fits directly on the MAF (2002 Corvette, I think), then a #R20FB-363-400 Silicone Reducing Sleeve 4" ID to 3.63 ID - Gloss Black from Intakehoses.com. This is on a 90MM holley, but they have other sizes available. I bought this and some 90* elbows to put an LS2 with L92 heads and L76 intake in a'34 Ford coupe. Unfortunately, there just wasn't enough room to make it happen! It has a carb on it now, so I have several parts to recycle into money, I hope!!

On my 1935 sedan I got tired of fighting with the very high intake air temperatures and finally had to duct some cool air to my intake system. That 200 degree intake air temp effects performance quite a bit.

I think these are the sleeves I used too, I actually bought this stuff off of a member on here so I did not know the exact size, just guestimated 3.75"
