GMC Typhoon LSX
I have a GMC Typhoone I am planing on doing an LSX swap on.
I want to make a list for everything I need to do the swap,
before I am going to California for some parts shopping in october.
The list:
Motor:
LSX... maybe a LQ9 with a LS1 intake
As far as I understand it`s only the corvette acccesory that will fit?
Open for suggestion...(budget build)
Trans:
Auto trans (has to fit the typhoons transfere case)
4L60E or 4L80E ?
Oil pan:
TurboTimes LSX pan
or the LH8 oil pan, does anyone know if this will fit?
Motor mounts:
TurboTime or.....?
Wiring Harness:
http://www.currentperformance.com/ or http://www.speartech.com/
AC setup: (If I need it...)
Street and Performance kit
Headers:
??? Does anyone know of something that will fit?
Misc:
Fuel pump, regulator, electric fans, hoses,......
This is the list I got so far, feel free to comment or add things to the list.
Thanx
The 'Vette accessory drive is a must. The truck setup "might" be possible if you are willing to relocate the radiator into the core support. The f-body setup won't work, steering box and the alternator try to co-habitate.
I used Turbotimes mounts on my truck, they worked fine. Their oilpan wasn't available at the time, so I build my own. Can't comment on theirs.
Trans choices are reasonably simple. Either the 4L60E or 80E can be made to work, the question is how long will the 60E last with AWD. Really it boils down to how much power you plan on making. You have 2 choices as to the 80E, either a 27 spline trans output shaft to match the tcase, or a 32 spline input shaft for the tcase to match the 32 spline trans output. Check out George of Prime Gears on SyTy.net. He had custom 32 spline tcase input shafts made.
Either of your wiring harness guys should be able to help you.

Good reading and lots of info.
My plan is to keep it AWD but no turbo, 350-400hp in the engine will do,
so maybe the 4L60E would hold, if that fits without to much trouble.
an alternativ is to get a rebuilt 700r4...
But does anyone have a link to a s10/sy/ty AWD that is up an running as a daily driver?
The only car I have found that is complete is this:

Why is it such a hassle to get one of these swaps up and running,
I was hoping that someone had figured out a work plan to do these swaps a bit easyer....

I startet to rebuild the engine, but changed my mind and started to think of a LSX swap.

Then I hopefully would get a much more reliable engine + the right sound

So does anyone have a link to a s10/sy/ty AWD that is up an running as a daily driver?
Probably the best place to look. Not sure if any of them are running or not though.
