Default 82 z28 LS1 swap (56k beware)

I'm sure what I've done isnt anything new on this website by now, but It was done by a couple college kids on the weekends so that we could breathe new life into my old daily driver and do something fairly unique to it.

The car is a silver 82 camaro z28. The vin says its an Indy Pace Car edition, but the motor had been swapped the paint had been changed and the only thing it had left to show was the dash emblem. Car has interior out of an 88 IROC-Z and seats from an '00 SS.

The motor is from ddnspider's 98 trans am. It has a Lingenfelter GT2-3 cam, ls6 intake, polished TB, comp springs and a couple other fix ups. The trans is a th400 pulled from a suburban with a B&m 3000 stall converter. Body has subframes, a spohn torque arm and trans crossmember. Fuel system is redone in 3/8" steel lines, a walbro 255l fuel pump and a corvette fuel regulator / filter. Exhaust is dual 3" pipes with no name 3 chamber mufflers dumped at the axle.

A picture or 2 of the car

The motor and trans in the garage of my friend's house.

New mounts in dirty engine bay

Motor on crane going into camaro

Questions and comments are welcome. Thanks to those who asked the questions before me so that I could find the answers. Ls1tech.com is an awesome community and I'm glad to be a part of it!

Looks good. One thing though....

....It will look so much better with the above, 5-10 minutes soak time, and water hose...

just curious, why do you have two different mufflers on there? One looks like a center outlet and the other is an offset outlet. Have fun with it, i know i love mine

The mechanic that made the pipes for me suggested those mufflers (Force 3 chambers) because they were dirt cheap and sounded fairly well. When we called Jeg's they only had 2 in stock for 3" in and 3" out. 1 was off center and 1 was centered. I was eager to get the car on the road and decided to just buy the different ones LOL. I'm sure i'll fix it someday.

Looks good, I'd def invest in some wire loom and a LOT OF electrical tape to clean it all up. Other than that, I've considered this project before and yours turned out great

Nice! Where did you get the motor mounts from? I'm gonna tear into my 86 TA as soon as I get a motor!
