Default New GTO Engine in 67 GTO? Anybody done it?

I have a 67 gto and I am thinking about putting an LS1 out of a new gto in it. First of all, I was wandering what the best year is on the new cars. Whats the differences between ls1,ls2,ls3,ls6,ls9, etc. Also wanting the go with a 6 speed trans. What all is required to hook the electronics up on an old car? Thanks in advance for the help.

^^Fckn trolls..

Get you an LS2.. it'll be a beast.
For cheaper and a little easier you can get a LQ4 6.0l, it's the Engine from a 2500HD Truck..that's what I used.

LS1's aren't too hard to come by nowadays, and it'll look nice as well.

As far as wiring.. if you know anything about wiring it's not that hard.

Default 1966 GTO - LQ9 Engine/six speed

I put a 6.0 LQ9 engine from a 2006 escalade and a six speed tranny from a 2000 Camaro into a 1966 GTO. Engine is running, chassis has been rebuilt, and we are currently doing bodywork. My son and I can't wait to drive this one. For our swap information check out our blog at:

I just put my first LS1 in a 65 cutlass. Don't let the wiring scare you it is the easiest part of the entire swap. Good luck with your project.

The GTO being a GM A-Body, no reason why it can't be done or why someone already hasn't....
If you can't find any info on one.. The Chevelle swap threads will get you the info you need to do the swap.. Would most likely need to use SBC engine Frame Stands.
