If you're going to all the trouble to pull it, and considering she's sat for quite some time anyway, why not send it and the ECM to Speartech or another vendor for functional check? I'm sure Speartech would be happy to help, and whatever the cost would be much less than another complete standalone harness.

That's a good point, I might consider sending the whole electrical back. I'm not locked on buying a new setup now, just considering all options, and all-new is an option that I haven't read any new info on in more than half a decade, so just putting out feelers for opinions and prices. I'm going to crack into the harness tonight, and consider contacting Speartech afterwards with my situation.

For less than $1500 total you can put Holley EFI (Ecu/harness) on that thing and be in complete control and never have to dick with OEM compatibility..or pay HP tuners again.....More Data logging than you can handle...full time integrated wideband....Boost control..and more. Welcome to year 201X.
Did you want to drive it this spring or not ?

I agree. If I had to start over I'd go Holley V2. $1600 plus covers all the options, boost, meth, nitrous, traction control... I'll probably go that way eventually anyway. Of course there are extra costs for all those options, but still, sounds way easier to tune anyway. New tech.......

Yes I am running the Holley HP ecu (about $950). I Could go on about it and sound like a holley fanboy. Example, When I switched from a 24x shortblock to a 58x shortblock, the change was accommodated in the holley software with one check box. Done. The data logging I mentioned is always on (if you set it so) and records to internal memory.
The HP ecu has 4 programmable inputs and 4 outputs that you can assign.
There is also the Dominator ECU, which has a bunch more inputs and outputs to allow auto trans control and DBW. I recall you are running DBW ? the Domi ecu is around $1800 by itself I think. Maybe consider a cable throttle...
The HP and Domi ecu both use the same tuning/setup software. You can download and run it free from Holley.

The holley ecu's can have a VSS speed input. With this they are capable of speed based boost control, Aka "Boost by gear". Allowing you to maximise available traction in lower gears......

It will be for sale, but I figure first dibs would be Mark for his Camaro, his van, and it seems other ppl that keep popping up that need a read/flash. My HPTuners serial cable is the village bicycle. I imagine once he switches over to the Holley setup, the HPtuners will be up for grabs. I'll chat with him and see what his thoughts are. When are you expecting to need it by? If soon, I could lend/send it to you..
Wiring harness will be all Holley. Kindof neat how modular it is, you buy main power harness for engine type (LS1/LS2/LT/Ford/universal/etc) then build from there.. injector type sub-harness, auxiliary power sub-harness, coilpack sub-harness, etc etc. I got the electronic boost control kit, LS2 injector harness, LS1 main harness. Main harness has input for wideband already built in, so only using the user-configurable inputs/outputs for the boost signal in/out. Also bought a spare pack of Metripack connectors to make all connections uniform looking under the hood, behind dash, etc. This is going to be fun....
