muffler selection
Need to order some mufflers for my conversion. Anyone have any advice on brand, type etc.... LS1 in a 66 nova and would like the more old school sound vice the typical new car sound, like the Z28's or the patented 5.0 flowmaster sound. Something not to loud but has a nice rumble.

You can probably fit the Corsa DB's, they have a red and black series depending on how loud you want them. The red's are fairly quiet when your cruising, but they make some awesome noise when you step on the gas!

I had 2-chamber (old 40 series) Flowmasters on my '68 and hated them (too loud). I have Borlas now and love them. At idle and cruise, they are really quiet. Put your foot in it, and they get really loud, especially above 3000pm.

I used to run the same 40's on my Nova back in the days with my high 10 comp solid lifted 327, yep, fairly load mufflers, esp with 3" pipes. Ordered ball flanges and X pipe (2.5") yesterday, will have to see what mufflers I decide on.
Thanks for the info.

I have 40 series Flowmasters on my 70 Nova and it sounds great at idle with 2 1/2 pipes that exit right behind my back tires points towards the ground, no tips. Can't see the pipes unless your hunched over. Sounds alright at 55mph but at highway speed it would probably get old after a while. The Hush power mufflers are quiter and more compact, will probably use those if I ever get tired of the 40's.

I used 2 Force 3 chamber mufflers. they have a good sound, but my setup has a very distinct drone point at around 2300 rpm. for very little money spent on them (about 30 bucks each) they sound great. Deffinitly turns heads around town. not too loud to drive around but explodes when you get on it.
