Aesthethically:

Top down with the tonneau cover on - slick as a spacecraft.

Top up - looks like a horse-drawn chuck wagon.

I prefer it with the top down with the tonneau cover, but I don't mind how it looks with the top up. I think the reason being is that because the black top matches with the black exterior of the car and the tinted windows. The color combination has more to do with it than the actual shape, for me anyway. Different strokes for different folks I guess. Here is what mine looks like with the top up (and yes I got rid of the Firebird wheels soon after buying the car).

yeah i agree about the color combination... a black top on a dark car looks a lot better than a worn tan top with dark spots on a white car.

funny thing is alot of people have never even noticed my car was a convertible so obviously it must not look that bad with the top up but i believe alot of that does have to do with the fact that it is a black top...if it were white or tan it would stick out like a sore thumb

I never have heard a negative comment. Top up is certainly a unique ride since there are so few on the road. I voted 'It's OK' for your poll.
Top down with tonneau cover is another story. Just killer style and looks. I've even won a few trophies at car shows which always stuns me when there are really nice old cars present. Most people really like it.

I prefer tan tops as long as it is well maintained with no blotches or stains.

Hears mine.

Many verts look like *** with the top up IE new Mustang and Corvette IMHO. I have always liked the look of the top up as much as down on the 4th gen F-body.

i would say it depends on the color of the car and color of the top. I personally love the way Red camaros look with the black top up!! it looks just as good as the top down.

Yep, I think Red with a black top is the place to be.

Sorry, Tan, no I wasn't feeling it like the black.

And yep, I think top down does rule, especially at the track or the beach, but No I think these cars like great with the top up, especially with the right color combo.

I WISH they had came up with a way to make them do like the g6 hardtop convertible...... top-up looks almost like a hardtop.

The new hardtop convertibles look great compared to the old soft tops.

Engineering one of these new contraptions is a colossal task. It looks like the top is designed first, then the rest of the car around it.
