Good luck. A lot of people have talked about doing a DD, but never come through. Even tougher to find them in chro mo. If you find them, post up.

I had a set of KBDD on my Z28. When I got my SS, they were no longer available. Years ago, I encouraged several sponsors to make them as almost every vert owner perfers them to the standard SFC design. With the car out of production for more than 5 years now, it is not going to happen.

i just need to find out exactly what size of tubing would be ideal.

4130 (chrome moly) tubing is 3.50 per foot.

i'll wait for it to get a lil warmer...if anyone has a busted up set of kb dd sfcs (busted as in uninstallable but still in one not trashed piece) that they are willing to sell cheap that would make things easier lol

I'm planning on making a set of DD'S for my Vert, I'm sure I could just as easily make a few more if there's interest? Chrome Moly or plain carbon steel Tube.

As that would compete with SFC's offered by sponsors, I'm sure the good folks of LS1Tech will be sure to e-mail you rather than post in here and violate forum rules.

Good luck with your homemade DD. Post up some pics when you're done.

I talked to Sam Strano the other day in depth and he said with the extra reinforcement for the 'verts there's no need to get DD SFC's.

Sam's a knowledgable guy, the extra reinforcing is a joke. The x-brace can be bent by hand. Ask anybody who has put DD on, or has done SFC's with a DSL as a brace and there is an improvement you can feel.

I have a cage welded in and I removed that Xbrace a long time ago...the DSL takes its place. I think he's talking about other reinforcement (floorpan?) from the factory because as you said the Xbrace is a joke.

Anywho, I'll be going with UMI SFCs most likely.

I think a big think would be for them to be able to integrate into things like tunnel mount tq arm mounts and lca's etc.
