Default Not as heavy as I thought!

Hey all,
Been a forum member for a long time, just don't typically post much...Own a triple black '02 SS vert as my daily driver and got the chance to weigh the car for free today on base...Came in at 3540 lbs with a quarter tank of gas and absolutely no weight reduction (still even have the spare and jack in the trunk).

I was led to believe vert f-bodies weighed in the 4000 lb range and were pigs...that's not much worse than the t-top coupes, if at all! Is this exceptionally light, should I trust this scale, or have others had similar results???

I've been wanting to weigh mine because I can't believe they'd be much heavier (if at all) than a coupe. The hatch glass and decklids on the coupes are very heavy!

These cars are like feathers compared to all the new 'muscle' cars. I'm amazed at the weights of new cars.

The Coupe guys just like to over-inflate the numbers. We're no more than 100 pounds difference stock. After that it doesn't even matter.

3575 is the numbers that were published when the car was released....with a full tank of gas that sounds about spot on.

Dam that some good info right there. And Johnny-LT1-runner is right about the coupe guys over inflating a bit sometimes. The had me believing I was at 4k!

The heaviest ragtop of them all is a Trans Am (power everything) with auto weighing in at 3627 lbs.

The equivalent hardtop (I mean T-top) is 3517 lbs.

Sounds about right, 3440 lbs, not clear if that's the base model or year:
