Default wind deflector, any help?

I've searched the internet but cannot find a company that sell a wind deflector/restrictor/screen or whatever you want to call it for our "F" body
verts. Mine is a 2002. there are plenty of companies that sell them for 2011 body style. Any help

I've always wondered why convertible owners wanted these. I've owned all types of 'verts (including BMW Z3, 911) and always asked owners why. The answer is, "it reduces the wind from blowing so much". Why have a convertible then? They never have an answer that makes sense to me. I would think a T-top or Targa roof would reduce the wind level. Maybe I'm old school. Getting too old. It's going against the very reason for having a 'vert, the open air, sounds, and wind.

Bought one for my wife. After coming over the windshield the wind whips back around and blows her hair forward so the screen cuts that down so driving is more comfortable for her. I've had a "high and tight" since joining the Army at 17 so I could care less!

Love mine. The place I got it from years back no longer lists them on their site. Shoot me an PM if you want, I'll tell you who to contact over there. They may have a lead, or a couple left over just not posted.

Hey, if someone wants one, fine, but I still don't get it.
I just can't see Nash Bridges (Don Johnson) having a wind deflector in his '70 Cuda or the Route 66 guys (Martin Milner, George Maharis) cruising the country in their Corvette with one.
These are muscle cars, not Miatas.

Sorry, I deleted the part you may have taken offense to. I truly am trying to understand a convertible owner wanting to block the wind. Isn't it kind of an oxymoron? May I ask your opinion on the matter? I see the reason given above by BigRedZag but this wouldn't apply to male owners.

BigRedZag hit it right on the head. The wife likes it less windy than you.

Thanks SuperSport I PM'ed you.

BigRedZag where did you get yours?

No offense taken. Just not a fan when someone poops on another’s parade because you don’t get it.

The wife likes it. Less wind turbulence, less wind noise, the heat is more effective when the weather cools, so longer top down season.

I like it for the less wind noise so I can enjoy my long tubes/magnaflow/radio and talk on the cell. You don’t have to be concerned about loose items in the car blowing out at speed. Plus, I’ve suffered all my life with sinus problems. Before the Windstop a 2 hr drive on the interstate would mean a plugged ear and a migraine.

It easy to install, easy to remove, it fits in the trunk but you can leave it on when the roof goes up. And I think it looks pretty good. Every car cruise I go to someone comments on it.

Oris is the manufacturer, from Germany. They supply to GM for 5th gens and you could get them for the SSR. Also, Mercedes, BMW, Lexus. And yes, for the Miata.

I don't think my PM's are working.

afterthoughtsauto.com is who sells them. I don't see them as a sponsor here, but I don't think any sponsor carries this.

They do still have it on their site, I would call them though before ordering ...

Thanks Brian.
Do you like your exhaust set up or would have true duels been better?

SuperSport, that is the best detailed answer I have received in the past 10 years. Health issues never dawned on me. The 'wife' issues stated by both you and the OP are certainly reasonable reasons as well and you have to make them happy. I guess I'm spoiled with my wife who enjoys the true 'vert experience. Thanks for the response and I apologize to SS4thgenvert for the hijacking. I just always wondered about the apparent contradiction. Nash and the Route 66 guys didn't have wives

I like it. It brings the noise when you get on it, good rich mellow sound when cruising. No drone. I've got Kook's long tubes and their 3" Y hooked to a Magnaflow cat back. When the car shifts under load it's got a great bark/pop on the transition. The Magnaflow is a great value. The Kook's cost, but man you get what you pay for there in fit and qualilty of construction.

Do have to say a guy down the street from me has a great Corsa system that sounds wicked.

I've had the car nearly a decade but the wife a bit shorter... I picked one up on here from another member who put in a roll bar so it no longer fit about a year ago. They're out of production now from what I understand.

IMHO, They may have them for newer cars but none of the original ones for fbodies like ours (98-02), or, maybe some new plexiglass abomination?

about 3 years ago I called afterthoughts auto a couple of times and the lady I talked to who was really helpful said they may make another run of them and about 6 weeks later I had one shipped to me, so maybe they can still get you one.
