Default LS6 Block

Purchased my 2001 WS6 Convertible about a year ago. After driving it a while I heard what sounded like some bad lifters. So with that excuse I pulled the engine. I could not find the 5.7 or LS1 anywhere on the block. I found what seemed to be ID numbers. So I went to the enternet for some help. Based on the info I found on the Net and the number from the block (12561168) I have a LS6 block. From what I found GM installed them on a few 2001-2002 F-Body's.With of course LS6 intakes & injectors. My question is to all you F-Body owners. Have you checked or if you already know that you do or not. Will you guys please chime in if you have a factory LS6. Also if anyone has any info like production numbers of these cars or anything please tell others and my self about it. I have not found much info on them. Thanks Guys

All 2001-2002 LS1 engines got LS6 intakes. A LS6 block adds nothing. It's just a different block casting number, nothing else.

Already knew that info. Was not insinuating that they are (Special) was just asking if anyone had any other info!!?? Like production numbers or something. This is why I don't post much. People don't take the time to read the question. They just start bashing.

RPO code LS6 was never applied to any LS1 F-body, so there is no way to accurately quantify quantities of cars built w/ a LS6 block casting. To come close, you'd probably have to find production records from the engine factory / block foundry to determine the total # of LS6 blocks cast within the '01-'02 MY production runs, and subtract the number of Z06 'Vettes built from that. Even that approach would be flawed, because if f-bodies received LS1 engine assemblies that were built on LS6 blocks, how many non-Z06 '01-'02 'Vettes received them too?

I suspect that at some point, the LS1 assembly line transitioned from using LS1 block casting to using LS6 block castings. Proof / debunking that theory would be determined if any '03+ 'Vettes or '04 GTOs had LS1s w/ LS1 block castings.
