Previous owner of my car did it to upgrade the pump. A little bit of a hack job though, there was a bubble mailer stuck on top hah. If I see him again I'll have to give him crap about that

I'm guessing that the OP is asking if anyone has done this on a convertible, specifically (as this is the 'vert section).

I've wondered myself if this is possible, especially on the '98 cars that need a higher cut.

Right. I would assume that would be obvious, since the sub forum I posted in, but you never know, lol...

What do you mean the 98s need a higher cut? BTW, ironically enough mines a 98.

Yeah, I think the two folks who replied above don't have 'verts (based on the pics of their cars). It's a lot tighter in the trunk of a convertible.

The '98s have a different gas tank (metal) than the '99+ cars (plastic), and the location of the fuel pump is slightly different. You have to cut and extract a bit closer to the back seat for a '98, which is even more difficult when it's a convertible. I could see maybe getting it to work for a '99-'02 car, but I think it would be really tricky with a '98 (or '93-'97 too). But maybe someone has done it, if so it would be great to know that it's possible.

Yeah, it's definitely tight in there, that was my main issue. I mean sure, no reason it can't be done, just a bigger PITA with the verts. But now that you've pointed out the inherent issue with the pre-99s, it makes it all that more worthwhile to mod to a 99+ tank.

Just did it this last weekend..... On my convertible. Its a 2001 but yes it will work. You will have more room to pull pump in a 98 since the pump is more towards the seat back on that year.
