I've only gone about 115-120 in my '02 WS6 'vert I just got. I've gone 140+ more than a few times in my '91 GTA. I'm impressed with how good this car feels at high speeds with the top up or down. Very nice!

Went on 3 with a viper and we both had our tops down. (Just playing obviously, I knew he would smoke me) Before i knew it we were at 160 and i kept going. he must have been going 175+ by the end of it all. I know i burried my needle so i really couldn't tell how fast i was really going. I love being able to keep up with guys who pay 50+ or more for their cars. Yeah wind was a little crazy but enjoyable none the less. I was supprised that she could hang in there with the top down at that speed.

To add to what I posted, I've now been to about 150 top up. This car is too much fun, it's gonna get me killed or something. Wasn't too noisy this time either.

In Swartz Creek?............Ballsy! Too many Police downstste for me. The last time I was in Flint driving around I think I saw like 10 Cops in about a 10 mile trek. How can you light 'em up with that goin' on around you??? You just don't get that in the "Boonies". I may see A cop every 10.................Days!
BTW: Top up 145. Not so much a Police worry as a freakin 8-point running out in front of you!

I've had mine up to 130-135 a few times now with the top down. Not too terribly noisy, but man when I shifted 4th-5th fast and hard, I could feel the nose of the car come up. A little bit of a scary feeling... I let off slightly and then hit it again.... man 5th gears pulls HARD in these things. I can't wait to drive my 400-450 RWHP LS1/T56/4.11 9" setup when its done and installed in my '91 GTA.

Actually, that was on my way up north to put the car away for the winter. Had some fun on 69 this summer too, goin over to the Berger show in Grand Rapids. I think you'd be lucky to have 10 cops total on duty at the same time in Flint. And they've usually got better things to do than pull people over. My dads a firefighter for the city and they have something like 15 firefighters on duty for the whole city at any given time. And Swartz Creek's got like 2 cops out at a time, that seems to be about the average for the area. Anyways, the radar detector is my friend.

I need a radar detector. BTW in all fairness some of the Policemen could have been Grand Blanc, perhaps a few State Boys & GC Sherrif sprinkled in there I was cruisin the ol' Dort Hwy/Saginaw St. area. Still way to much "Serving and Protecting" for me. No offense to all of the fine men an women who do But when you're not used to seeing that many in one week let alone one night, well............. Also are you sure on the 10 cop thing? I grew up in Flint....A.) I would think more than 10 cops on duty for the "per-capita murder capitol", agreed perhaps not all Flint City though, and imho B.) They are looking for people to pull over and give Street Racing tickets to. I used to be one. Trust me I got plenty o' tickets in my young and dumb days. (not proud btw) 12:00am-2:00am on Dort/Sag people aren't generally "Grocery Shopping in the Z."

Yeah, Grand Blanc cops are definitely a pain in the ***. The last one I came across seemed to have a problem with me doing 80 in a 45 down Fenton Rd. I dunno though, I guess Flint probably does have more cops than firefighters. Just never had a problem with them myself. It's all the small town cops that are out to get ya.

130 top up. 145 top down. Noise not to bad. I had a 70 (396 4sp) Chevelle that made more noise at that speed and scary to drive at that speed. My 70 (383 auto) Road Runner's front end would wave at people. Meaning the front tires would leave the ground at 135+ if I hit any rise or dip in the road. I guess the air would push the front up. It was dam scary the first time it happened. I know they are older cars but the SS felt like I could do twice that speed and still have control. This SS is one dam fine car!!!!

Default Speed rating on the top?

Does anyone know if the top has a "speed rating" I heard (I think it was a viper though) of a 140 mph speed rating, and this guy had his top ripped right off.

pegged the 155 speedo in my 95 Formula ragtop twice in Utah. Top up and top down. Not very safe but a great memory
