It is just for appearance really. Won't hurt your top if you don't use it. But I would go back to the dealer and see if they won't get you a new one or at least see if it was misplaced in their detail shop before you took delivery.
I had something like that happen when I picked up mine from the dealership. They did not give me the magazine for the monsoon cd changer. Granted, it's only a $15 part, but they told me that it should come with the car because it is part of the car and got me a new one.

I don't use my covers very often, but it looks better with the covers.
I bought my car used and before the final deal, I had asked twice if the covers came with it... sure, sure, it comes with the covers, he told me. Well, there were no covers, and he wasn't too happy about getting them for me (and he was a GM dealer)
The bad thing about not using the covers is that the top got so hot that the rubber pads on the latches came off. Has this happened to anyone else?

I wonder what I can use as replacements. I haven't checked to see if they are available from the dealer.

Probably not worth the cash the dealer would charge for them.

Looks like you have to buy it piece by piece... . Thats awful expensive for some plastic. You could buy almost 2 brand new tops for the cost of the complete boot.

zeevert,
unfortunelty, yse, looks like you have to buy each piece. Go to Year One site to the "Next Generation " catalog, then into "body", then convertible/ misc section.
looks like: center: #fc22( graphite) $375; fc23(neutral)
latch:fc24 $23.95
pushbutton #fc25/fc26/or fc27: $5
right/ left sides #fc2lh,fc2rh,fc3lh,fc3rh: $61
all depends on color
Hope this helps

Got it. Not the most user friendly site to navigate. But definitely useful.
The prices don't seem too bad compared to dealer.
