I love the droptop too but damn I wish they were more structurally sound. Bumpy roads equal loud rattles and massive cowl shake and subframe flex, or am I the only lucky one here?

You need a SFC, a STB helps a little too.

Most cars get rattles as they age and are used. Mine just happened to have a few when it was new and being a convertible didn't help that matter. I'm not sure if you've owned a convertible f body before or not, but please don't try and tell me it has nothing to do with being a vert, and the fact the car doesn't have a roof which adds structural support makes no difference. Everyone here knows thats not true.

Don't get me wrong I wouldn't trade the droptop for the world but the first lesson in Convertible Analagies 101 states: A hardtop is to a box with a lid as a convertible is to a box with the top cut off. Which one is stronger?

Wierd, for me my '01 SS vert rattles less and has less body flex when jacked compared to my previous '00 t-top Z28, go figure

Either way, definitely another vote for getting vert over hardtop for DD (especially here in San Diego!)

I feel T-tops are the best of both worlds, but just my humble opinion

I thought I'd just bring this back up for a second. I went to my insurance company, and asked about premiums with TA's and I was surprised at what I heard. A TA 2D Coupe would bring my ins. up $200/yr. A WS6 coupe would bring my ins. up $10/yr. A TA conv. would bring my ins. DOWN $40/yr. I love State Farm!

Knowing State Farm, they are banking on you not surviving a roll-over in the 'vert, thereby reducing their chances of having to pay out.

Well I own a vert..and I want both. Hopefully in a few years a firehawk to complement.

Both would be about the same strength actually. Just get sfc's and structural integrity is the same. i have maybe 1 squeak in my car and thats with the door i think.

Personally, I am happier with my convertible WS6 than any other car I owned - that is because with t-tops, I would be lazy and never take them off. If i wanted to go into a store, I wouldn't want to leave them off and I wouldn't want to take the time to put them back. The convertible is for me because I guess I'm lazy

I'm in a bit of a dillema(sp?). There's an '02 WS6 on the lot of my dealership (red paint, black leather, M6, t-tops, 19500 miles) for about 20K. I'm going to wait until March to get this car, and my question is should I pick up this car then(I could argue the price down at least a grand, if it's still there), or should I wait for them to find a conv.(Which could take months). I could wait, because I want this car to be perfect. However, the problem is that the car on the lot is such a great find (an '02 with less than 20K miles?). Assuming this car is still on the lot, should I get it, or wait for the conv.?

WTF would you do that for? Tell a used car dealer to find you a specific car! Grab them ankles and break out the KY.
I got a great deal via ebay at the end of fall on my convertible. Apparently convertibles dont sell too well in South Dakota when it hits a high of 32F. Bahahaha.... all the way to the bank.

The internet is your friend, search it.

Find you a convertible, you'll never regret it. Come spring when you put that top down & go thru the gears you will see what we mean.
