install a new top yourself? Is this a difficult task or what? My top is in decent shape just the stitching on the back is coming undone. If someone has directions or a link to some please post.

There is a website that sells replacment tops and they have a pdf brochure you can download, they say its pretty easy. I have asked a lot for pics when people do it and never get any response, if you search this section of the forum you will see this gets asked a lot but no one ever follows up with any answers. Good Luck.

I know. I searched and didn't come up with much. I don't think anyone has done it on here yet.

it is a fairly easy job, if you got 2 or 3 friends to help you out with, wouldnt try tackling it by your self

Question

I've been watching for how to's since june 07, about all we ever get, if any response, is the type answers just posted, but no real how to's ....

From the internet based info, which is super generic: seems like a lot of stretching, gluing, stapling, and some sewing too??? FWIW

I'm about to buy a whole top already on the frame and one of my good buddies is a photographer so I'll see if he can take some pics while myself and a couple other guys do the install. Then I'll try and sit down and write it all out.

I read about one guy doing it, not sure if it was on here or not. He ended up taking it to a professional after trying to do it. That's one of those things where I would spend the money to have someone do it right. I would love to see a write up if someone does one though.

I changed out my top for a used top and frame, very easy but the frame was
bent and the top wouldn't close right and leaked badly. I just had a shop charge 550 to remove and swap tops after I swapped frame back to original. After looking at this job
I was really happy to spend the money. So total price 950. for a gm top.
