Default Iron block Vettes

Anyone have the 6.0 litre truck block in their Vette and how does the added weight affect handling? I was thinking of going with a 408 but wanted to see how people liked theirs before I jumped into it.I already have heads and cam with 400 rwhp but wanted somemore power.

There was a guy in Vette awhile back that had a Vortec 8100 in his C5. Said it was a real torque beast...dunno how it affected handling, but the review from the driver said it was a pretty impressive car in the straights

With the added weight of the SC and other parts, I'm probably 60-80 lbs heavier in the front. So far, I haven't noticed any difference, however I dont roadrace/autocross the car. But as far as everyday driving and handling I cant feel a difference.

Not sure what the point of putting a stock 8.1 in a C5. A 427 or 436 LS1 based motor would make more power because of the superior head design.

A crazy heads/cam 8.1L would be cool.

Still seems like a hack job.

Well, looks like there's 2 then. The one im talkin about was an NBM car, that looks to be red.

And the only point was, i guess being able to say he did it. You're right, moddin the LS1 would've brought some better performance #s then that, but i guess he just wanted to say he did it.

The iron block makes the car a bit nose heavy.

I'm currently running an Iron block 410cid nitrous motor in my C5 that I mostly drag race,I've noticed no difference in handling,although the extra weight isn't helping my ET.

I did not notice any difference in my 408 6ltr It drives great for every day. But the stock A4 is getting replaced next wed. with a IV FLP tranny But I Mite change to a 422 twin turbo 6ltr so If there is interest in a 408 solid roller motor I will have it out as soon as the snow falls
