C6 or C5 Zo6?
#4
Essentially the same car. C5Z is probably a little lighter, and potentially a little faster. If you are planning on mods, and not going to have your wife/GF drive it, buy the cheaper of the two (C5Z?).
However...
C6 Pros:
4.00" bore LS2 will accept L92 heads.
Improved steering.
If its a Z51, slightly larger brakes.
18"/19" wheels/tires, if your into that kinda thing.

I've can speak from experience I owned a 2007 Coupe and a 2006 Coupe Z51 and then decided this summer to sell the C6 and go back to C5 and I am just if not more happy.
Pros of the C6
Headlights if you drive at night the C6 are WAY better
Better seats and better looking seats
Somewhat nicer interior
Keyless stuff
LS2-LS3 based motor. Both of these motors can make way more power NA then the LS1 or LS6
Con's
Twice the price of my current and much faster C5
More vague steering
Less tossable then my C5 FRC
Keyless malfunctions nothing major but a few hiccups
C5 FRC has much more sports car type feel
I actually get more complements in my current C5 then I did in either of my C6's. The C5's just look mean and fast when they are lowered the C6 doesn't have that say tough look without a ton of modifications
If I ever go back to a C6 it will be a Z06. I don't feel the current price difference between the a standard C5 and C6 are worth it.
Nothing really to say about the C6 Z06. It is the best full production Corvette ever built. I don't consider the Zr1 a full production Corvette. I would rather have a 7.0 NA then a 6.2 supercharged.

im going to purchase a c5 or c6 next yr. i cant decide on either a c5 or c6.
the only 2 options are either:
c6 yellow,coupe,m6
c5 triple blck,vert,m6
i feel like the c6 looks more like a modena or ferrari, comared to c5, especially a yellow c6. its one of the few rides that makes me
im not looking to build a drag strip warrior, i dont want the vette for any track use. i can build aother 10 sec. 3rd gen fbody with lsx swap again if i need wheelstands.

The steering feel is a little better on the 08s, but still not as connected as other sports cars I've driven.

I like both I guess if price wasn't a issue I would take the C6 but there is way more value in a C5.
Old C6
Current Supercharged C5

i too have owned both vehicles and agree that they are worlds apart. The Z has a much stronger road feel and overall "ready to race" quality over the C6. The c6 has a smoother ride and a much better build, fit, and finish IMO. i enjoyed the Z for what it was, but at the end of the day I like the C6 a little better for my daily driver. If I were doing more racing (road, street, or track) I would choose the Z, but I have other vehicles for that purpose so i went to the C6.
Another consideration is the age of c5's in general. i still think they look good (especially the Z's), but at the end of the day they are getting older and will begin to look outdated over the next few years.

You can make the C5 and C6 feel (suspension) and pull (power) like anything you prefer, but the C6 will always have much more refined interior and drop dead body lines, The C5's already look old. Hey, atleast they are both cheap.
I would just wait another 6 months and grab a C6Z for $37-39K

That is just a drawing, not a real photo of a C6.
Back on topic. I'd rather have a base C6 than any C5. Yes, the C5 Z06 is the best bang for the buck, probably out of every car on Earth. But, the C6 is still nicer and better built. I prefer the body lines and HID headlights of the C6, as well as the interior. C5's just look dated, especially the nose. I like C5's from the side view and rear view, but the nose just looks blah and too smooth/flat/rounded.

I would agree although it is hard considering my C5 is 609 rwhp which makes me giddie every time I mash the gas compared to my 359 rwhp C6

Everybody has their own opinions on what they like, just like I do. C5Z06!
However drive them both and weigh your options, then buy what you want.
One thing many guys say:
C5Z06-race car feel and drive
C6-Cadillac
