How low will used C5 prices drop when the C6 comes out?

I think the c5 is pretty well done depreciating. When I bought my Z I got 9K off of the sticker, and the used '02s with <5K miles were going for 37-40K. I think you will see a significant price increase for the C6 (Especially the 24V Z) and the C5 will more or less stay the same in value as current with just a little drop. All IMHO

I'm hoping it depreciates a lot, as I'd like to get a 99-00 C5 when the prices get down into the low $20k range up here. Right now the 99s and 00s are still in the $36 to $40k range though. I also have to pay off a lot more debt too, so I'm looking at a minimum of 4-5 years from now, more than likely a bit more.

I was also thinking they would drop, I have guys telling me although I have not checked that they are seeing vettes C5 2k and 2001 going for 25k with 20k miles on them from auctions. I had my doubts but some of my coworkers are continuously telling me about great deals on vetts although they never go and get one.

I have also been looking to get a C5 (99-00),maybe even a Z.
I asked that question to a BIG vetter dealer and he responded
"its difficult to answer that question at this point and time, nobody really knows"
I often go to the bluebook website and check Ebay and cars.com just to get an idea of what they run in the different years and mileage range.
You can find some pretty nice reasonably low mileage ones for around $25k-$30K.

I doubt they will drop that much, teh c6 doesnt appear to be a big body style change, so i doubt the c5's will look out dated or anything that would cause the price to go down

I think once C5's reach 10-12k they will start to go up again. I have no idea how long that will take. It seems to me that there is a lot of demand for cheap C5's, the lower the price goes more people are buying them.
I have my timing just about perfect, my '99 will be paid for and I'll be ready to buy a C6 in the 3rd year.

When it comes to those power quotes.....well I'll believe it when I see it.
IMO I think the prices will drop just a bit. I am pretty sure your going to see a lot of them for sale and for cheap. At least the people who want to get rid of their cars ASAP to have the latest and greatest!

Believe it. My cousin is the engine test engineer at the LS1/LS6 assembly plant in St.Catherines, and he told me about the power increases in these engines over 2 years ago! There will be bigger versions of these engines, and they will also be using cylinder shutdown technology in order to still acheive 30 MPG and 500hp.

I doubt the prices will be affected by the C6.
Afterall, the C4 prices weren't really affected when the C5 came out, and that was a complete design change.

I bought a book on "Corvette Fuel Injection" and the author gave a bit of background on GM and the Corvette in general. In the book he stated that it was GM's policy to not produce a car that would be subject to the gas guzzler tax.
Thats where the skip shift that everybody hates came from

Prices on the c4's are still way up there for the year and miles. Personally I hope the c5's hit rock bottom so I can buy a couple. But they wont.

Re: How low will used C5 prices drop when the C6 comes out?
99-00 C5s can be had for mid 20s easily. I almost bought a 99 FRC with 34k miles for 23k. I ended up buying a MINT 99 FRC with 22k miles and a bunch of mods (heads/cam/bilsteins/etc) for 27k. The car is brand new inside and out. Not even a rock chip on the hood. I don't think they're gonna drop a whole lot more.
