New PB @ Houston Raceway Park- 2002 ZO6
I got a new PB last night at Houston Raceway Park. My car is a 2002 ZO6, the only mods are a Halltech Venom CAI and a pair of 305-35-18" M/T Drag Radials. I made four passes total with the first one being my best pass of the night.
We had good air with temp about 47 degs, Dew point of 34 degs, and Baro psi at 30.38 putting the DA around -1200'. The track was prepped pretty good even though they just scraped all of the rubber off a couple of weeks ago. I launched around 4000 rpms and made shifts at 6300 1st-2nd, 6400 2nd-3rd and 6400 3rd-4th. I do quick light lift shifts and the race weight was 3350lbs.
Year-2002 ZO6
Tires-M/T 305-35-18" Drag Radials
Mods- Halltech Venom CAI
60ft- 1.782
330ft- 4.958
660ft- 7.627
660ft- 93.47 mph
1000ft- 9.909
1320ft- 11.846
1320ft- 115.20 mph
Here is a scan of the time slip.
My 3rd pass was well on the way to an 11.77 or so pass, but I somehow managed to blow the 3rd-4th shift!
That pass the numbers were
60ft- 1.730
330ft- 4.929
660ft- 7.593
660ft- 94.47 mph
1000ft- 9.890
1320ft- 12.006
1320ft- 103.20 mph
That would have been my best pass for sure, maybe I'll get that 11.7x pass next time!
Pass #2 was 11.855 @114.70 mph w/1.792 60ft
Pass #4 was hot lapped 11.982 @ 112.99 mph w/1.774 60ft
Every pass was in the 11s !

This was my second time to the track with the new 18" M/Ts. The first time the track was not prepped very well and I got some low 1.8 60ft times. Friday night the track prep was much better and all four of my passes ranged from 1.730 to 1.792 on the 60 ft. My times were 11.84, 11.85, 11.98 on a hot lap, and what would have been an 11.77 or so on the 1.730 60ft but I killed that run with a missed shift.
So far I am pleased with the M/Ts. One thing about them is , you have to bring your launch rpms up or you will bog on the launch.

Floyd, you really need to clean off your back bumper area and your rear light covers need some cleaning off also.
I know, I followed your car for about 12.3 seconds.

On my last trip to HRP I made four passes , two launching at 4000 rpms and the last two at 5000 rpms. My best 60ft was 1.730 which is my best ever with this ZO6.
Hey Jim
I'll be sure and get that mess cleaned up for ya so it wont be a distraction for you when your going for that new PB I'm sure we will get a few more chances with some good DA in the next month or so. Keep in mind that your 12.15 run was with better DA by about an extra -300ft. Dont give up yet, you might still beat that run before the heat starts coming.

So far I've only made about 10-12 passes on them and only had wheel hop on one pass. That occured when I made a pass last week when the track was not prepped very well. I spun really bad on a 4000 rpm launch and back peddled to let the car gain traction, and when the tires bit it wheel hopped really hard twice. But other than that they have been great.

Check his last post...they're on stock C5Z rims. I need to pick something out for mine since I'm still riding on the 8 yr-old stock Goodyears. Haven't decided on DR's or street tires yet. I only drive about 3K miles/yr so DR's would probably last me a couple years whereas street tires would last another 6 yrs easily. I only plan to go to the track a couple times/yr.
