Default Mod questions

Hey guys what up? I'm trying to decide between buying a 03/04 Cobra or a 2002 Z06. I like both cars very much. They can both be made to look sexy as hell. Here is what I'm wondering what mods are needed to get a 02 Z06 to run with or outrun a pullied Cobra? I'm talking about a 450-480rwhp Cobra and doing the racing from a roll out on the highway somewhere. Thanks guys.

Thats quite a choice, A Mustang or a Z06, The 2 arn't even close, I would be willing to say if you installed a SC on a Z06 that would be all you need, You would have a car that would out perform the Mustang hands down in every aspect.

Well I'm not sure that my funds would allow for a supercharger after spending 22k for the car itself. I know that handling the Vette would beat the Cobra hands down but what are the other major areas that the Vette has a decided advantage? Thanks for the help guys, I'm trying to make a well informed purchase.

Since I have had both cars I would say the Vette over the Cobra. I hated the maintenence on the cobra. Its seemed like everytime I turned around the car was in shop. I had the cobra with full bolt ons and it made awesome power (492/502) but theres nothing like sitting in a Vette. Both cars got alot of attention if that what you are looking for. But hands down my Z06 with its mods the cobra has no chance.

Advantages for the vette. Weight and Aerodynamics. I would say an 02 c5 z with boltons and medium cam will hang with a pullied Cobra and out run it. Especially after the speeds got above 100 mph. Thats where the weight and aerodynamics advantage really start to show.

Well I just got back from test driving a local 02 ZO6 that is for sale. It is an awesome car! I love the feel and the looks so much more than that of the Cobra. Now I have a new delimma I'm not sure weather to get a ZO6 or get a coupe with a removable top. I know the ZO6 will out perform the coupe hands down. How much difference is there though? Will the coupe will bolt ons and a cam run with a pullied Cobra? The reason i keep asking about the Cobra is because there are so damn many around here. The ZO6 I looked at is local (only 6 miles from my home), its Electron Blue, bone stock with 51000 miles. I can buy it for less than 22k. It is a one owner and the guy is selling because he just got and 08 Z06. we all know there are coupes to be had for the same or less money. So what are you guys opinions Z06 or coupe?

Get the c5 zo6 bro. Better stock heads, better cam, hell you got 405 bhp to start with. Add headers, intake, ud pully, ewp and some bullets, or the LGM big 3 catback setup and you probably have 400 rwhp or maybe more depending on how your car responds to mods. Don't forget to get a VaraRam CAI, those are the **** for making a vette quicker. The c5zo6 has better gearing to be quick and is still FAST. I guess 1,2, and 3 feel like you have a 3.90 gear. 4th is same as the coupe 1 to 1 but 5th and 6th are shorter as well and make for snappy response on the highway.

My opinion stands, get the c5zo6, NOT A COUPE !!! Do all boltons, and a set of 3.73 gears. You will have 400 rwhp 400 rwtq beast !!! The 3.73's will make her very quick !! Just do the damn thing already !!

Good for you brother !!!! Bolton only and a set of 3.73 gears and that zo6 will be unbelievably quick !!! And fast !!! LOL

Then when you get bored slap a good set of Heads on there for another 30+ rwhp. If that isn't enough swap cams, just don't over do it and ruin such a mild mannered beast that can and will get wild at a punch of the throttle.

Just suggesting this so you don't do the exact same thing everyone else has. Boltons + 3.73's + c5zo6 = Very Reliable Quick as hell Daily Driver. Go any further and you'll need a new clutch, rear diff, and other stuff. Subscribe to the KISS theory. Keep It Simple Stupid.

How much is too much? I just want to be able to beat down all these pullied Cobras around here. It seems like I notice them more and more since I was going to buy one. I'm glad I decided to go with the ZO6, not nearly as many of them.

You'll beat the pullied cobras with the following (stock heads and cam)
1 VaraRam CAI
2 Ported 92mm FAST from Ron at Vengeance w/92 mm tb
3 LG Motorsports Pro Longtubes
4 LG Big 3 cat back'
5 ASP Ud Pully
6 Meziere EWP (optional) No problems from mine, I re used it on my 402
7 3.73 gears in a built rear diff (upgrade now so you don't have to later)
8 Kick *** tune to make this bitch hum

400 rwhp 400 rwtq should be no problem at all with stock h/c. Can't forget the awesome factory reliability, and driveability that you will retain as well. 3.73s will make the mn12 gearing feel unbelievably quick, so get some DR's to harness the acceleration potential. Good luck !! We'll talk h/c selection when you are ready.

I added Kooks headers, KnN intake, and a tune and made 390 rwhp. Not sure if that's fast enough to beat a 450rwhp cobra..but I am sure its close with the weight difference. It only cost around 2k for parts and install. Then if you add a cam you will be around 430rwhp (that's what I made at the time)
