Default 427" Dyno Numbers

This is in our 03 EBZ06

Our combo consists of:
Lunati 4.00" crank
Wiseco 4.125" pistons
Lunati 6.125" rods
Dry sleeved aluminum block
RGR stage 3 heads 2.05/1.60 valves
Custom Comp grind
Spec stage 3X clutch
Stainless Works 1 3/4" headers w/OR
Stock Z06 catback
Stock(unported)LS6 intake
Speed Inc ported throttle body
Blackwing
SLP bellows

Through full exhaust
503.9RWHP/492.9RWTQ
Open headers
520.2RWHP/492.4RWTQ

It runs on 93 octane, and I have been getting over 25MPG on the highway. Peak power is at only 6200, so it doesnt have to be revved sky-high.

We will be testing the Kooks 1 7/8" headers,as well as the LSX intake, and hopefully it will get us in the 530-540 range through the stock exhaust.

I will try to get the graph posted in a day or so.

Mike, it is a little over 12:1. Dont let that number fool you though. It gets 0* of knock retard with 26* of timing.

Tight quench, and an efficient combustion chamber allow for more compression with less octane.

Nice numbers, I'm looking forward to seeing what the bigger headers do for the combo.

You guys should toy with a direct port on that thing, I think thats what I'm gonna do with my car if the blower doesn't work out, change the heads to raise the comp, 200 shot, Large cam, call it a day...

The quench is .031".

I have to find the card, but off the top of my head it is 242/250 on a 114. With that size motor, it really isnt that radical. I have been getting over 25MPG on the highway.

Tom, congrats on the setup!

What rings do you use on the pistons? How much oil consumption do you get? Thanks.

Unhappy Why would you ruin a great motor like that with a 200 shot of NOS??

[COLOR=Indigo]Why would you want to take a motor that is that impressive without REALLY that much done to it and ruin it with a 200 shot of NOS. Guys lets get real for once the motor is what is impressive in all these cars if they can run a 9.0 and are shooting NOS who gives a sh*t really. But when they can run lets say a 11.0 or so with pur motor and not really have much done to it that is impressive. When we were kids would anyone have raised you on your bike if they knew you had a lawnmower motor on the rear axel. I mean come on lets quit cheating and show these guys what REAL cars are made of. Leave off the 200 shot of NOS and then call it a day and I will say that you have one he** of a car.

What do you mean not much done to it.Everything is aftermarket, block included and it's a 427. So you think N2O is cheating. What about turbos or superchargers they must be cheating too.By the way NOS stands for nitrous oxide systems,a company that make nitrous kits.I see your new here do you even own a LS1.Our anything that runs in the single digit 1/4 mile.I actually own a LS1 2000 SS that is going to be spraying a 350-400 shot of nitrous.Using your thinking I'm going to cheat my way into the 8's.

Tom,

A big congrats to that awesome new big cubed setup! Looks like there are more than a few 427 cubes C5s running around town now!! Will be interested to see how the planned upgrades work out as i will be right behind you looking for the same type of additional power if the planned mods reap good benefits.

Do you have any plans to test one of those special sheet metal intakes. I would think those should gain about 20rwhp of the z06 intake but only time will tell.

Will be in touch with you guys soon and come buy and show you a new toy i picked up-A 454 BB 69 mint condition brandy wine colored camaro making over 600 hp and ft lbs at the crank. Now if we could only skip winter and go write in spring things would be really great. Enjoy and good luck!

You know what if you are happy CHEATING your way through life more power to you when you blow up your motor you will know that you shouldn' have taken the easy way out but you know what why do you think that you have to tell me what NOS is I have and can build drag cars with the best of them so there is no reason that I wouldn't know what that was all you guys are out there for is winning and when you don't do it fair then you LOST no matter what the time is. All of you on the fourm think that because I am a girl and don't have some hardcore name like the rest of you that I don't know what a motor is in a car and I am sorry that you are all wrong!!!

I had no idea you are a woman.Nitrous is not cheating, neither is a supercharger or turbo. They are called power-adders because they do just that, add power.I want to run 8's with a ls1 and it is not possible without a power adder. The thought of a ls1 that would run 8's all motor would be great,if it could be done I would definetely go that route.I have no worries about blowing up considering every possible step has been taken to ensure a long happy life for my engine. It was built for what it's going to do and is a drag strip only car.Oh bye the way I'm not a cheater as you say I just want to go fast plain and simple.Welcome aboard

you're from nashville? so am i....who are you and what do you drive.....if your cars are sooooo badass, then i'm sure i know of you. in is plain INCOMPETANCE to say nitrous is cheating. that is just a lack of knowledge about the POWER ADDER. that is what it is......that is why it is in the same category as turbos/superchargers. all three are there to ENHANCE the capabilities of a motor. don't make youself look like a fool on here, cause all youre doing is givin Tennessee a bad name.....

Speed Inc-carry on, that is one hell of a motor you built. what are the power numbers under tha curve look like. that's what always impressed me the most with the big boy stroker motors. it's not the hp and tq peak, its the power under tha curve that kicks *** on those things!!!

good work, and hope to see it someday!!!!

sorry about the rant.....just a nashville person has now imberresed me.....
