Default High HP Cars - What Tires Are You Running?

Ideally, C6 guys, interested to see what tires your running

I don't want to break the bank here with my tire upgrade, my car is pretty much street only

just no traction

That's were my problem lies, I have a 19" wheel on the back, so I can't run any Nitto's, they cut off at 18"

You have to downgrade your rim size to get good DR on C6's. Unless you want some Hoosier R6's they make those in 19's. Or you can try Toyo Proxes R888 thats a Rcompound tire but more ment for auto cross

well I don't really want a DR as this is only a street car, I just want SOME improved traction over the RunCraps on the car.

I haven't looked into the R6's yet, I'll do that, but if they are a DR, i don't want to give up that handling.

The R888's are nice, but at over $1600, I wont be getting those soon.

Im running 19s in the back and I am about to go pick up a set of Nitto Invo's. Other people that have high HP cars swear by them. Im going to be getting 305/30/19

Well if you want an improvement over the RF's, then pretty much anything will do. RF's suck. When drove home on them I dreaded having to come to a stop and then re start the car, because she would just light them up with the slightest bit of throttle.

my stock tire is 285, so I'll have less meat on the back, but I guess I'm stuck with Invo's since the R888's are so sky high expensive

Tire racks got the 295/35 19 BFG'S and they look and work great . They still look good on the 10 inch wheel in the rear, were as a 305 looks to big on the 19 by 10 on c6 vettes but of coarse there not a drag radial but they have decent grip.

The R6s are actually a road racing tire. They're the best in 19" traction and will handle better than anything else in the twisties. They still have the life span of a DR though.

Drewstein - I agree 100% but at $1600+...that's more than I need for a street car

of course, 730hp is more than most people need for a street car lol!

I just wanted to know what else I can use besides R888's

I am in the same boat. I run 19 on the rear. I had a set of Iforged wheels and I ran Nitto Invo 305/30-19. For a street tire they do really good, not like a DR, but not too bad. Since mine in a C5Z, it came with the Goodyear F1, not the RF, and the F1's are not good at all for high HP cars. I ordered a set of 360 Forged wheels and had the rears speced to 19x11.5. I am looking to go with a slightly wider Nitto Invo on these wheels.

The best solution is for a tire maker to make a good set of 19 DRs

I'd take a look at the Nitto NT05. I have been reading nothing but good about them.

I am running 285/335's in the NT05's. The hook with these things is phenomenal. $1,250 out the door at Discount Tire. They should have fits for your C6. Go to this link for sizing: http://www.nittotire.com/#index%2Etire%2Ent05%2Esizes

They arent exsactly the stock width but its better to stretch them then make them buldge honestly.
