Where are you seeing '07s going for low to mid $40K? Maybe for an '06 or a high mileage 1LZ. And if you're talking auction prices, that doesn't mean you'll pay that little unless you're a dealer. Demand is going up and supply is going down. You know what that means. This is Corvette season.
I bought my '08 at Corvettes of Houston December of last year. Call Matt over there and ask if he has anything inbound. Their prices are fairly decent and you know you got a good car, not someone's ragged out POS.
Actually, I see you're in DFW. Corvettes of Dallas is no longer affiliated with Houston, so I don't know what you'd get there.

I've heard of pretty much brand new 2008 Z06's going through the auctions and getting low 50's. You can get a nice 06 for low 40's with low miles. Than again low miles on a vette to me is less than 20k.
Check autotrader and yahoo search's. There are tons of them out there, especially the silver ones.

I have access to the auction. The Z's in the mid 40's have high miles and are used. Any Z that has been taken care of will command a good dollar for it. It is not like 2006, but if you are looking for a nice car, get ready to pay for it.

I love this people are always claiming that these cars are all of a sudden cheap. 06's with 60K will go for $40K. People jump on 06's with 30K for $42K so the possability of a 07 for under $45K is a myth, unless they have a dirty title.
I just got a 07 2LZ...

Up to you. The T56 cars ('06, '07) are still damn fine vehicles. But '08+ not only have the updated Transmission (with which some complain about grinding issues when cold, but I have none), they also have improved steering. '09 has larger capacity dry sump off the ZR1. 2010 has launch control (benefits of which remain to be seen). Each year is going to have something improved over previous years. And watch the build dates on the '08s. One of the engine builders alluded to only buying cars with build dates after 8/07. So based on that I would get an '08 built sometime after August if I were you (mine was built in November, '07, thankfully). I know of several reports of failing rockers on the '07s (needle bearings coming out).

My '08 only had 5K miles on it when I bought it. I consider anything over 10-15K miles high for a Vette. But perhaps that's just me since mine is just a weekend, fair weather toy.
